Is my bad memory permanent?!

Question: Is my bad memory permanent!?
I turned 19 around 5 months ago!. Over the past year I took pills (ecstasy) almost every other day for around 3 months then began uni where I smoked marijuana pretty much every day for 6 months and over the last 3 months I have been drinking every day!. As well as this, I have taken a variety of other drugs over the past year!.

Currently, my memory is appalling!. It's got to a point where it's even embarassing: I will ask my girlfriend the same question 3 times in one evening and the other day had to ask my hairdresser what we talking about mid conversation!.

I've slowed down on the drugs and booze now but will my memory ever improve!?

Thanks in advance for any reponses!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
More than likely your memory will improve once you stop using drugs and alcohol!. This is of the utmost importance !. If you can't stop by yourself then find someway to get help in order to stop!. Of course there is no guarantee that the memory loss is reversible but continuing taking drugs and booze will probably make it worse!.
When I was younger I used to smoke a lot of weed and occasionally do other "recreational" drugs!. Once I decided that I was tired of feeling like an idiot and quit using , my memory and overall thought process improved over time !. You see there is always hope, but you have to take that first step and get straight !. You obviously know this or you wouldn't have asked your question!. Good luck to you ! Www@Answer-Health@Com

Brain cells are the only cells in the body that don't regenerate!.

This is why it's important to preserve as many as you can!. Drugs, drink, smoking and injury to the head cause brain cells to die!. Lack of oxygen for an extended time also does!.

I would urge you to stop all of the above and to start training the brain cells you have left to work for you!. Most of us use less than a fraction of our brain power (brain cells) so take heart in the fact that if you have killed off half your brain cells you still have enough to lead a normal life if you take care of the ones you have!.

Our brains have marvellous circuitry and are able to forge new pathways where damaged ones exist!. The way to do this is to keep the brain active and challenged by doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, reading and playing games which force you to remember!.

There are so many wonderful books on the market that can encourage and motivate you to make the best of the brain you have!. Do yourself a favour and get some from the library today!. If you have a Nintendo DS get The Big Brain Academy and use it daily!.
