I'm a guy and I relate better to a female psychologist!. I see my therapist usually once a week for depression!. I saw a male therapist once, a couple of months before and it really didn't work!. It felt really awkward and I couldn't really open up!. With my female therapist I can cry and open up completely and be completely honest with her!. I think it's because women just seem more understanding and caring!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
I haven't got a psychologist but have a psychiatrist, key worker and my GP- have aso seen a wide reange of mental health professionals the past few years too!.
For me as a Female, I feel more comfortable with Female professionals!. I feel they are more caring and understanding and for me I just find them easier to communicate with, however i do have issues with trusting men and this is probably a big influence!. My Psychiarist is Male and I find him really difficultto relate to!.
I know if It was a physical illness I was suffering from and I had to be examined anywhere on the body I would feel much more at ease with a same sex professional!.

Male (I'm female)!. There's an uneasiness about talking to a woman who may have been through your problems!. She'll suggest how she conquered her problems and expect you to do just like she did!.
And it's weird, I know, but I feel like I have to compete with a female therapist!.

It doesn't matter to me, if the person was someone I felt at ease with and who gave me confidence that is all that would matter, their gender would seem scarcely matter!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
