If I am seeing improvement after taking St. Johns wort, should I go see a doctor!

Question: If I am seeing improvement after taking St!. Johns wort, should I go see a doctor!?
Ive been trying out St!. John's Wort for the last few weeks because I have always been emotional with very high mood swings and depression!. I see a total difference in myself, I take 2 300mg tablets when I get to work at 8:00 and and 2 around 12-1:00!. It seems I am more talkative and laughing more and way less stressed all through out my day!. My question is if this is working that well, should I go see a doctor!? Or is this something that I just should continue to take for as long as needed!? Is there something better out there OTC!? & Have you taken this and seen a effect in your life!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

If it works for you then feel free to continue it but definately get seen by a doctor to be evaluated!. A good psychiatrist will allow you to continue St!. John's Wort if it's working for you!. The previous poster was right in that from that brief description you gave it sounds like you are bipolar!. If that is the case St!. John's Wort is said to only really help with depression and it's rare that it actually ends up at a permanent/thorough cure!.

I am bipolar as well and was put on all sorts of antidepressants that didn't work for years!. FINALLY I saw a doctor that put me on Lamictal and the difference was night and day within 5 days!. That is the sign of a true biological disorder- the medication works fast because there are no environmental factors!. If yours is completely biological there is probably something out there that will work better for you and who doesn't want to feel better!?

Good luck! And congrats on finding something 'healthy' to medicate with! Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm glad it is helping you, but I would still see a doctor and be evaluated if your problems continue!. I also don't know how long you can take St!. John's Wort at a time or if it might cause health problems later!. If it continues, definetely need to go in right away!. You sound like you are bipolar!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am a big fan of St Johns Wort and any other herbal supplements that can take the place of prescription meds!.!.!.!.If this is helping you, great: if you feel the need to talk to someone, then see a doctor or therapist!.!.!.but if you have improved with the St Johns!.!.!.keep using it!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
