If I see a Psychiatrist, will that make me look bad in the future?!

Question: If I see a Psychiatrist, will that make me look bad in the future!?
I of course would like to be an FBI Agent someday!. It is what I always wanted to do!. Unfortunately, due to my mother's abuse to me in the past, I must seek psychiatric help!. I can no longer try and deal with my problems on my own which I have been forcing myself to do for a while now!.

I'm worried though that if I see a psychiatrist, it'll turn heads when I apply for a career in law enforcement!. Will seeing a psychiatrist now, affect my chances of getting into law enforcement even if I may not be seeing a psychiatrist at the time I apply!? (minimum age for applying is 23 years old)!.

I am now 18 years old!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You know if you go into counseling and successfully complete and not just drop out when you feel ready-it can actually play in your favor due to the fact that along with psych classes and other schooling you will have first hand experience!. I'm not sure about the FBI but I'm in Gov Law Enforcement and it has not been an issue!. You might consider starting out at a state level after college and then applying to the Feds!. That's the way my friends have done it!. God Bless ReggieWww@Answer-Health@Com

The other advice you are getting is bad!. Yes, they will do a security check on you, and if they need to give you a high clearance they will find out what you were seeing a psychiatrist for, and it will count against you!. It's not exactly legal but it still happens!.

You don't need to see a psychiatrist unless you need medication!. I suggest a counselor or psychologist!. You may be able to get one through school who will do anonymous counseling!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you need to see a psychiatrist, then you should do it!. However, you should never, never, mention it on any application!. If you do, you'll spend the rest of your life explaining your problems to unsympathetic strangers!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

No way, how would anyone even know that you went to a psychiatrist in this day and age it is practically normal to go to one so many people do i wouldn't worry about it if i were you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's private what you see a doctor for!. I think its ok to go talk to therapist because it will make you mentally stronger and you want that to be an FBI agent!. If you have a chance to talk to someone now about the abuse then it will make you free to enjoy your career and your life!. All adults seek some kind of therapy at one time or another so don't feel its just you!. Its important for those in law enforcement to be able to communicate well and you are working on that now by talking!. So you are now in training!

best of luck!. How wonderful that you are already getting ready for your career!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
