Are you agree with me?!

Question: Are you agree with me!?
Now I want to talk about mental health issues and people who think that god will help!. Honestly, i am not against religion and believes but some people justt have to realise that religion isnt gonna sort peoblems out!. If someone believes in god it should be a personal thing, because everyone believe in something which gives us hope!. But when someone want to get an advice about depression, they (religious people)should not use god for getting answers!. Thats why we have therapists who are dealing with the mental health issues, they do not send depressed people to churches for the right reasons!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

i'm catholic, but i totally agree with you on that one!.!.!. its like the people who dont seek medical treatment for their kids or themselves because they have 'god to save and cure them!.' its nuts!. and illegal if the parents are neglecting their kids like that!.

its nice to have someone to believe in and turn to and pray to!.!.!. but for me it just really teaches me that i'm able to have faith in something!.!. and that when all else fails, i can turn within and find answers!.!.!. but definitely not cures or fix-all solutions!. its 2008!. some people are too old fashioned about religion!.!.!. but yeah, i definitely agree with youWww@Answer-Health@Com

I can fully understand what you are saying and do agree with you!.

People who are religious need to understand that god may be their salvation but that this is not the case for everyone!. I personally believe that everything happens for a reason and in karma ie the law of cause and affect but I appreciate that not everyone else believes in these things, so what works for me won't necessarily help or work for someone else!. Having said that a lot of people who go through difficult times especially those who experience addictions often tend to then find and believe in god or something similar!.

There are definitely two sides to this coin!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i agree, but sometimes the best way to solve a person's depression is through religion!.!.!.!.it all depends on the type of person!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Totally agree!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Agree 100%!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You're right! It's annoying how religion is linked with EVERYTHING!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, I agree!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You are sure right !. A good minister will help but he will advice to to see a good therapist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I hate pushy religious people and wish I could agree with you, but I just can't! When I suffered from severe depression following an illness, prayer was all that got me through!. Therapy didn't help a bit!. This was about two decades ago before we have some of the medications we have today!. I think most likely medication would have helped a lot!. But given the state of therapy of the time, patience and prayer was the best possible treatment!. It did sort things out!.

The mental health profession is in its infancy, and treatments are very imperfect!. Recent studies have come to the conclusion that some of the most often prescribed drugs for depression simply don't work!. Different schools of therapy don't agree on what sort of therapy is best!. It's a mistake to say that therapists "are dealing" with anything; they are trying their best to deal, but they have a long way to go!.

You have a confusion about "belief" which I think needs to be addressed!. You seem to think belief is about deciding to pretend to believe something because it will give you hope!. But people who really believe don't think that at all!.!.!. they aren't pretending!. If God really exists, how can God be a personal thing!? He's either outside people in the real world (whether you choose to believe in him or not) or he doesn't exist at all!.

Now, I will agree that I think it's rude to give a religious answer to a question about health!. This is the "mental health" answers section, not the "religion" section!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I agree! God helps people that help themselves!. It's a bit of a cop-out when people come up with knee-jerk answers to something as complicated as mental illness!. Why wouldn't God smite all the pervert clergy that we have heard so much about!? That kind of abuse causes all kinds of mental issues with victims!.
Prayer and church can give many people a lot of comfort and peace; and I'm all for that!. It bothers me that it is recommended as a cure-all for something as complicated as BPD, or schizophrenia or whatnot!.
As far as I'm concerned, one might as well prescribe powdered bats' wings or eye of newt; there are actually people that think that herbs or omega 3 fatty acids will fix the problem!. It's stupidly simplistic!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, that's rubbish!. How can belief in God just be a 'personal' thing - he's either there or he isn't! And God USES doctors and therapists to help people, most religious people wouldn't say you should ignore doctors etc!. If God is there at all, then he works through these people!.

You can't deny the evidence of millions of people who have been cured of these illnesses through God!. The religious people are only trying to direct you to something that they KNOW works! It would be cruel if they didn't!Www@Answer-Health@Com
