Have you heard of self-stimulatory behaviour!? Stimming for short!. It's mostly seen in those on the autistic spectrum (I have similar habits, and I have Aspergers), but it's also seen in about 10% of non-autistic kids, and, less commonly, in adults!. There are a few theories around it - one for hypersensitivity, one for hyposensitivity!.

For the former, it's a 'norming' effect, allowing you to control a specific part of what you're sensing!. It you focus on that, you can divert focus from other things that are producing overstimulation!. For the latter, it can actually provide some stimulation, giving your nervous system a good jog!.

It's thought that there are some links towards migraines and hypersensitivity - I'm prone to both, so there could be a link through there!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Making a repetitive action or sound yields some pleasant feelings and release of dopamine in the brain!. During yoga and the repetitive chanting, "ooohm!.!.!.!.ooohm!.!.!." that yields feelings of contentment!. Your bobbing/rocking is probably the same thing!. That's the basis of the rocking chair!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Oh that's just something to keep your mind occupied!. It's nothing to be worried about!. It's kind of like twiddling your fingers, tapping your fingers, humming, licking your lips, or tapping your foot!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

sometimes i do that when i'm concentrating really hard on something, too!.

i have no idea what it is though, sorryWww@Answer-Health@Com
