One reason is the increase in definition of Autism Spectrum Disorder, that is, that there are more conditions, such as Asperger's, that are being classified along with Autism!. Better diagnosis and more understanding of Autism also play a role in why there are more cases!. Another aspect is a cultural shift, it's no longer as shameful to have someone with mental illness or retardation, and people are probably more likely to consult with a doctor for treatment than they would have been 30 years ago!. There is no increase in the cases of autistic spectrum disorders!. Clinicians are getting much better at recognising it and diagnosing it!. People with autism used to be labelled as odd, backward and eccentric whereas now days they are recognised as having an ASD and can get the support they need to help them live a relatively normal life!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The amount of chemicals our bodies have to deal with since the Idustrial Revolution is ever increasing!. Our food is laden with artificial chemicals, some of which don't even exist in nature!. Humans haven't evolved over the last 10000years our so to be exposed to a 24-hour (neon)lit environment!.
Our liver takes the strain and so does our nervous systems!. Sooner or later something has to give from an evolutionairy point of view!.

The "flavor of the week" explanation is that it is being caused by immunizations or more specifically the mercury and other preservatives used in immunizations!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
