Am i being too sensitive?!

Question: Am i being too sensitive!?
I went to see my doctor to get some more meds and she asked me if i had an appointment to see the psychiatrist yet, when i said yes she asked if i could wait till then and i explained that i was trying to but kept having the urge to overdose!. She then said if i could 'convince' her i was at risk then i could see the psychiatrist today as an emergency!. I said that that wasn't necessary she then said so your not at risk!. I just felt like she wasn't taking me seriously and just wasn't being nice to me like she usually is!. It really hurt me!. should i be feeling like this or was she actually trying to help and it's just my BPD making me feel this way!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I reckon that she was genuinly trying to help you!.She was prepared to help you see the psychiatrist today!.Not many doctors would have bothered with this!. It was you who turned down her offer wasnt it!? If you still have the urge to overdose, why dont you go back to your doctor as soon as you can and explain that you would like to change your mind and could she arrange an urgent appointment!.If she offered before, she'll be glad to help,I'm sure!.
Dont be afraid to ask for help, you are too important!.
If you are in the UK,have you ever tried ringing The Samaritans!?They can support you until your appointments!.
All the best!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

She sounds like a ******! You are not being over-sensitive! I think you should find a new doctor - one with your needs at heart and one who understands you and your depression!.
You need somebody who will take you seriously and not be impolite to you when you are most at need - someone who will care for you!
I completely understand how you feel!. I had many doctors until I found the right one that I was comfortable with, and that has my best interests at heart!.
Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Change Doctors, what does it take to prove!? - well don't give her the satisfaction as life is so very precious (I am connected to oxygen all the time to keep me breathing) just dump her for a decent Doctor (((hug))) and keep your chin up luv, you WILL come through this bad patch with or without her!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think that you should try to sit down and cool down your stress because doctors have got more experience than us and she knows a better reason why she said that you should not go and see the psychatrist!.
Maybe she knows a better reason why she is doing this, maybe she just wants you to settele down and think carefully about what you are going to do so just wait as like she is saying!.

Well considering the amount of people who fake illness now to get RX drugs, I'd say she was doing the right thing to make you wait and see your pshy!.

Good luck and don't come down hard on her, she's just doing her job and tryng to keep herself out of trouble!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Quote "I said that that wasn't necessary "

That isn't very convincing, so she asked you, you responded!. What you said and what you were trying to communicate are two different things!. If I were her I would have done the same!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would definitely find someone else, she has no right to make you feel badly at all in any way!. It sounds as though she needs to be a little more sensitive to the needs of her patients, how horrible that she made you feel that way!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

just talk to your psychiatrist about it when you do talk to him!. He should appreciate it to know that his secretary is belittling his patients!. That's bad for business!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

She was trying to see if your problem was real, she may have had a lot of patients that day and didn't mean to be rude, don't let it bother you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Some doctors are sadly like this neroli, and it is not your fault!.

I had a GP who has now left the area a few years ago when I was at my worst (when all the GPs were adament it was BPD)!. This one said to me when I mentioned I was going through a tough time with my parents, plus had come out of a abusive relationship with an older boyfriend at 16!. Her advice!? "There are more people in a worse situation than you!. I have a patient who's husband died quite recently, she has two young kids and is struggling financially!." She insinuated my problems were just "menial" and didnt mean anything!. And most importantly I should have reported her for breach of confidentiality, not to mention rudeness!!! And that wasnt me being oversensitive from the potential BPD!

I also had that quite recently!. My depression really kicked in earlier this year and I was at the stage of wanting to harm myself every minute!. I rang NHS 24 (they are fecking useless btw), and the male nurse that spoke to me was a complete asshole!. I mentioned I was very suicidal, and had paracetomol sitting next to me and wanted to end it all!. He told me to "drive" into a hospital, and again, hinted I was taking the p*ss! I was so angry, and when I said to him that he wasnt being the slightest bit of help, he told ME to stop being so rude!

I am a mental health N/A myself, and although am not a nurse or psychiatrist myself, you should NEVER tell a suicidal patient to drive in a car when they are fragile to the nearest hospital!. What if they attempt to kill themselves on the way!?!?!?!?

It seems in your case that your GP is one of these people that relaly doesnt have a clue about mental illness!. I would most certainly take this further and complain!. You will be taken seriously and hopefully this will get sorted!. On the otherhand, since she's a "professional" she may argue that you were not an actual danger at the time e!.g!. unless you had big slits on your wrists or paracetomol in your stomach, behaving in a delusional manner, there was no need to see a psychiatrist right away!. It's sad but true I'm afraid, I see many doctors do this in my work!.

Best wishes!Www@Answer-Health@Com
