Why does Empathy from people feel so good?!
Question: Why does Empathy from people feel so good!?
I'm a piece of crap and it feels good when people tell me I shouldn't kill myself even though I know I should!. I'm tired of being a burden on people and society and although I know i can change it is too scary for me to think about!. It feels so good when people tell me my life is worth something even though I know it isn't!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

You know that you aren't a piece of crap!. You need positive-reinforcement from others, showing you appreciation!. That appreciation doesn't last forever, however, as we are all human!. We all get caught up within the day to day crap of our lives all of the time!. While others may still believe that you're a wonderful person, they can't be there 100% of the time!. And that's when those feelings of being a burden, and so forth slam back into your mind!.
It's my personal hypothesis that those who are very dependent upon positive-reinforcement, in order to feel somewhat comfortable living, went through trauma during a key time of personality development!. Imo, during early childhood!. I'm not a psychiatrist, but I've fought with this key part of myself all of my life!. And, yes, my childhood was rather traumatic!. However, that part of my life is L_O_N_G_ gone!. I have to learn to change this pattern within myself!. It isn't easy, and it sucks sometimes!. I just fight to keep out some teeny-weeny bit of hope that maybe someday I'll be happy within myself!. That I will have accepted myself (faults and benefits)!. We tend to be very quick to not accept compliments, and that's because we don't believe them!. It only matters if we honestly believe them!. And that is what we need to aim for!.
