It really depends what you're there for!. When I went, I remember waking up at 7:30 on weekdays and having to be at breakfast by 8:00!. I had to walk all the way down the hall past everybody's room to get my soaps and bras (if they had underwire)!. After breakfast the first round of medication was brought!. We watched educational TV (pet star!. always pet star!.!.!. ugh) til our first group, then we got maybe a half our break between each group!. At the start of each group they asked us all individually how we felt, physically and emotionally!. That was to compare and see how the medication was going, I guess!. Our groups were: Medication Education, Art/yoga/dance, school with Ms!. Tanya (she was super cool) and several others that I can't remember right now!.!.!. but they were uninteresting!. I loved art and yoga!.
They might have you pee in a cup, and you might have a blood test!. Just two things I remembered!.
They had a little white tile room with a window in the door, they called it the Quiet Room!. You had to go there if you misbehaved!. If you misbehave, you're given a choice: take the knockout meds willingly, orally or take them unwillingly, a shot in the ***!. I never saw that happen, but I was always kinda hoping for all hell to break loose and all the nurses would come flying in with the needles!. I guess it was dull, I wished for entertainment!. =]
Basically, it isn't that bad!. OH, I didn't talk about weekends!. Weekends were fun!. We got to wake up at 8:30!. Breakfast at 9:00!. Pet star pet star petstar till lunch!. A couple groups!. At 6, visitation and at 7:30, they brought in Smokey the therapy dog :) Then pet star, petstar, petstar, mood check, meds, bed at 10:30!.

You wake up, go to breakfast, then sit around till lunch, then maybe get a nap in, then sit around till dinner!. It is really boring!. Some hospitals that I have been in require you to go to groups, others just had me sit around and watch TV!. It sucks!. The purpose of a mental hospital is to get your medications under control!. The usual stay lasts for 3 to 5 days!. If you have to be watched for longer than that they will send you to a residential treatment facility!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I remember when I was in the psych ward just sleeping alot!. I know there was tv and people to converse with, but I didn't do much!. I was out of my mind then and didn't really care if I lived or died so I just slept!. After "they" got my meds under control I started being more socialable!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
