What are the positives and negatives of dating a man who's being treated for!

Question: What are the positives and negatives of dating a man who's being treated for schizophrenia!?
My childhood boyfriend recently re-appeared in my life!.
He's really one of the nicest people I've ever known and he wants so much for us to be better than friends!.
Aside from the 'tardive dyskenisia' and his oft-slurred speech, there's nothing wrong with him!.
He's kind, thoughtful, career/goal-oriented, self-sufficient, and self-motivated!.
What would you do!?
Are there any 'dangers' I should be aware of!?

I think you might find it helpful to contact some mental health organisations for specific info about this!. He sounds like a good man, and he would benefit from your support/friendship, but you need to find out more before you get any further involved (if you WANT to be more involved, that is)!. If you go diving into a relationship, and then leave him because of say, a "bad turn", it would devastate him!.

(If on the other hand, you only want to stay friends, then its ok to say so)

My brother was schizo for a while it will be very difficult to deal with not wanting to take meds stealing my stuff it was very difficult make sure you are committed to him because it will make it even worse if you leave in the middle of all of this!. I would get out now!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If he takes his medication properly than there will be no dangers!. I know many recovering schizophrenics!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

As a schizophrenic I would say hes very lucky so go for it!. Most of us are too unmotivated (at times) to change the TV channel yet we cant even work out why ourselvesWww@Answer-Health@Com

no other danger!. just be sure he takes his meds on time so that his negative and positive symptoms are controlled!. =)Www@Answer-Health@Com
