I have anxiety disorder and depression!. It used to have more control over me!. You just have to follow through with seeing a dr!. even when you feel good!. You might actually make more progress talking when you feel good!. Obviously what you are doing now isn't working or you wouldn't be posting!. You have to make a change!. As far as the drugs, talk to your dr!. tell him you don't want to mask it!. Sometimes drugs on a short term basis can help to see the actual problem instead of the anxiety the problem creates!. It can make it easier to deal with and move on!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc!.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc!.

Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI - Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level!.
But there are natural ways to do it without medication!. There's this strange herb called "St John's Wort" - it is said to be more effective than Prozac!. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings!. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John's Wort works like prozac!. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc!.

The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced!.!.!. you have that "learned behavior" in your mind!. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior - Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this!. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction!.!.!. There are several other techniques to help cope them!
Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to!.!.!.!.

Okay whatever you do DO NOT take Celexa, it is non FDA approved for anxiety, one of the drug's side effects is actually anxiety!. I understand completely you don't want pills, I didn't either, but I got some Xanax from my dr and they really helped me get thru the difficult period, and now I almost never take them!. They will just make you feel normal again, and reassure you that it's all in your head, which it is!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try going on something like Celexa while you start therapy!. As you learn skills for coping and dealing with the anxiety you can come off the drug!.
It just helps give you a break while you are learning!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think that sometime medications can help, but there are a lot of things you can do for yourself that no therapist can do for you!. I also think that sometimes, talking too much about the things that make you anxious will only accentuate it in your mind!. Just remember that life is short and you don't want to spend too much time sitting in a therapy office when you could be finding ways to enjoy it!. I am not at all saying that therapy is wrong, but I think some therapists are better than others and sometimes you can help yourself more than therapy can help you just by reading a lot of self-help books, maybe starting a yoga class, changing your thoughts about things on your own, verbalizing positive affirmations, going to church, prayer, changing your diet, etc!.!.

When the World Trade Center collapsed, it all seemed so surreal!. It put the moment of my life in a new perspective!. I realized that those people just vanished almost without a trace of their bodies being found!. What did they do in the past week or month or year that they would have felt good for and what would they have felt was a waste of time and energy!. What is petty and what is important!? Am I looking at what I have or what I want and not appreciating the moment!.

I used to get so caught up in worrying about the outcomes, but I finally realized that all the worrying would not change it and may affect it for the worse!. If something happens, life goes on and new doors will open up!.

There are some tapes that Iistened to called: Wherever You Go, There You Are!. It as to do with just training your mind to focus on that moment and not dart around to the past or what the picture in your mind of the future is!. Focus on your breathing, the noises you hear, your body and how it feels, the fact that the sun is shining on your face or the wind is blowing your hair, or the necklace that your mother gave you can be felt around your neck and that signifies something!. Look at today and what it stands for!. Decide what you want to do with it!. If you want to spend it working for a better future, just make sure that you do it in such a way that today you can enjoy this moment right now!.

Also, start visualizing yourself the way you want to be!. Stay focused on a positive image of yourself as a relaxed, happy person who doesn't let things affect you so much!. Also, read the book, Don't Sweat the Small Stuff!. Just read loads and loads of self-help books and good quotes to remind you of how to keep focused on positive things and don't allow the worry to linger!.

Example: Perhaps you are worried about your next test and that you haven't studied or can't seem to stay focused!. Just affirm to your self that at the moment, you are feeling anxious / doubtful / negative about your self, or whatever you are thinking/ feeling!. Then tell yourself that you are going to do your best and that you are smart, capable, willing, and then ask God to take care of what you can't handle on your own!.

I hope you feel better soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
