Question: School sent me to Dr!. to diagnose ADHD!. We now see counselor who doesn't believe in it!.!?
my son has slowed down a lot over the summer!. His school thinks he's ready for regular preschool!. I would like to get a 2nd opinion from a Dr!. about the adhd now, but since he's only 4 and ADHD is so controversial, how would I find an objective diagnosis!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

If he's 4 years old - he's not in kindergarten - so whatever 'school' told you your son is ADHD is way out of line, unless he is the exception to the general rule and is bouncing off the walls day and night since birth!. What is the difference between where your son goes now and what you call a 'regular pre-school!? 1st of all, ADHD cannot truly be diagnosed before the age of 5 - and I've heard age 6 from others!. Even then - beware, medical doctors hand out mind alterering pychotropic drugs like candy to any kid who more than likely lacks either structure, routine or dicipline!. Go to the closest University that has a teaching hospital and call the Hospital and ask the ombudsman there (ask at the reception desk, or when you get the 'information' line on the phone) and tell him/her everything!. This hospital should not be connected to your school !.!.!. if it is, just choose the next closest University with a teaching hospital!. This will be the best consult you can get, and you should get it!. Yes, it will cost some money, but not nearly as much as you may think, no matter what they say about your son's ability to learn!. i'd say read as many articles as you can find on it and figure it out for youself!. too many doctors are in it for the money and nothing else so they'll just give your kid drugs and get on with their merry way!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Get a second or third opinion!. It can make a big difference!. And do some research of symptoms!. You don't always have to listen to your doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I think you should just send him to a reg!. pre-school!. If you feel he has slowed down then why not take a shot!. I think he'll do better surrounded by other hyper little boysWww@Answer-Health@Com
