Need urgent help, please, anyone?!

Question: Need urgent help, please, anyone!?

hi everyone!. i posted this yesterday, but nobody gave me a reply, so im posting it again in the hopes that someone can help or give me advice, thanks
my husband is a long term sufferer of depression and ocd!. he has in the couple of months gotten so bad that his psychotherapist has reccommended that he be treated as a voluntary inpatient in a pshychitric hospital!. after many talks and reluctant agreement from my husband he ws referred to a phsychiatrist in our local hospital!. the psychiatrist then reccomended he be admitted immeadiatly as he felt he was quite an urgent case!.my husband has had treatment publicly with psychiatry before, and now has almost a phobia about public treatment as he was treated very badly!. we explained this to the doctor who said we have an option to go private if we are insured, which we are!. however the insurance will only cover a new illness, not preexisting!. the doctor said that we could put down the ocd as being new as the insurer has no record of that!. however on his referral letter to the hospital he told them that my husband as had this condition since '97!. the hospital will now not admit him as they say that the insurance will not cover us and we would have to pay 15000!.00 for a months stay, which we do not have!. in the meant time there has been so much messing around trying to get him into the hospital that it has made him ten times worse!. he is now utterly worn out with obstacles being put infront of him, when all he is doing is asking for help ( an extremely hard thing to do in itself) the referring doctor is reluctant to put down any new illness incase they do not diagnose him with that in the hospital and we are back to square one then with the 15000!.00!. i am pregnant at the moment and am finding the stress of this unbearable!. but i am also fearing for my husbands life, and ijust find it so hard to believe in this day and age that the systemn can let you down so miserably, when it is something as serious as your mental health!. it has now been a week since he was reffered and we are no better off for seeing anyone, only worse off!. if anybody out there could please help us in any way, i would be so gratefull,
thanks for reading

Ocd and depression are the worst!. I have slight OCD!.!.OK medium OCD and depression big time though I would never tell anyone!. Been there done that!. I am 54 and like my Drs say I look 40 but my insides are 90!.
Drs suck here in Orange Co!. Calif you have to fill out an application to see if a Dr wants to take you on/ I have been turned down buy 2 pain management Dr's and 2 family Drs cause of all my issues!. This is wrong!. I just left a greedy Dr with 2 other Drs in her office and they have 3500 patients!.!.can you say greedy!? Its unfair is my fault I am like this no and to have Drs mistreat your husband is appalling! But is allowed!.

How about saying he now has anxiety attacks now due to the lack of proper care!.Those are debilitating and so scary to have!. My 1st one I though T was going to die, my throat closed up and I started to lose consciousness, I have never been so freaked!. Both of you read up on this and try it!. I hope you have a Dr that will do this for you!. If not go to another Dr and start all over!. Its hard and its going to be worse on you and the baby!.
Its sad no one anywhere cares about human or animal life!.

Most county's have mental health systems where your husband can go and get diagnosed as seriously mentally ill!. They will then pay for his hospital stay!. Go to HTTP:/www!.nami!.com and you can find information about these services!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Here is a resource I came across!. I has a lot of catagories and covers a wide range of depression topics!.

First, I am sorry that you are in this complicated and alarming circumstance!. Second, it seems that your husband's issue has been longstanding, without any evidence of improving!. So, I'm not so sure that a brief hospital stay would have the overall support you are seeking!.

Given the above, I would suggest that you seek support from your local spiritual/religious community for leads to outreach groups or other germane resources!. I would also engage your local political leaders for some direction or possible assistance!. Let them know that you have voted for them or will vote for them but also let them know of your desperate circumstance!.

There are also local mental health resources that may be available!. You probably have knocked on many of these doors but maybe you need to knock a little harder!.

Above all, never quit!.!.!.never!. I came across your comment while trying to get help for a most cherished family member and could not read your post without sending you some response!.

I also am concerned about getting some help and may very well join you alarmed and more than frustrated!.

But be as strong as you can be!. I pray that something will break for you and you family!.

If you want help try having a specific question that will get the attention of someone knowledgeable in the issue!.

Also be succinct and to the point!. Ask the question!

I've suffered severe anxiety in the past and it was a scary time, but with support and better understanding things get a lot easier!.!.!.

Get whatever support you can from people around you so it doesn't take it's toll on you, you need to be as strong as possible!. Seek out any alternate therapy and be open to ANYTHING!. Different strokes for different folks!.

I found counselling, support groups, meditation, reiki, re-birthing (or breath-work), journey work (see Brandon Bays), Hypnotherapy!.!.!. all helpful and gave new insights!. Also adjusting diet, health and exercise!!

Their can be a chemical imbalance but I personally won't touch medication!.

If the mind is powerful enough to turn your life upside down, it's equally powerful enough to do wonderful things!!!

good luck :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know how extreme his depression is, but I have found "love" in my life!. I'm not religious, but I had some depression for a few years and it all stemmed from not loving myself!. A lot of people around me loved me, but I didn't!. Since finding out that I didn't love myself, I felt better!. So I give myself more credit and I feel focused and less burdened!. I don't know if this will help him, but did you ask him if loved himself!? You love him, his family love him and friends as well!. But does he love himself!? This can be a start!. But I hope you find what you are looking for!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi, it is sad to hear hat ye are in the position that ye are in!.

I'm giving this advise not in a professional way but simply stating the method I found and used to overcome my depression!.

I have suffered depression for a few yeas now and with my other health issues getting worse, my depression was also getting more severe and nothing was getting rid of it!.

I then discovered Dr!. F!. Batmanghelidj's Water Cure (site listed in source) and got (from library) his book!. 'Your Body's Many Cries For Water'

The cure entails just simply drinking tap or filtered water with sea salt, i!.e!. 2 Liters of water with half teaspoon of sea salt (100% pure no added anti-caking agents etc) stir well, then drink 2 8oz glasses half hour before breakfast then the rest throughout the day!.
You must cut out ALL caffeine drinks (Coffee, Tea, Soda's etc) and alcohol!.
If you can get out in the air and walk at least 1 mile per day or more then its even better!.
In my case after 3 days I noticed an improvement and after 1 week others noticed it as well!.

Five months down the road and I am completely off all depression medication, I have cut down dramatically on my need for pain killers (for Fibromyalgia) and am living amuch better quality of life!.

You could get by with what information I have given you but I highly recommend the book as it gives you the whys and wherefores of the reason drinking salt and water is good for you!.

I am also not wishing to be alarmist but I have provided a link for a documentary I came across about psychiatry and its scary, watch it and judge for yourself!.

Good Luck, I hope ye have as much success as I have had against depression!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

See section 7, on OCD, at ezy build, below and also view section 6, since some consider to be an anxiety related disorder!. Practice one of the relaxation methods on pages 2, 11, 2c, or 2i, daily, and when needed!. Also, give the EFT a good tryout, to see if it helps you!. There is also a version for use in public places, (if you like, you can claim to have a headache, as you massage/lightly tap your temples)!. "Even though I suffer from OCD, I deeply and completely accept myself!." Section 53, and pages 2, 2!.q and 2!.o at http://www!.ezy-build!.net!.nz/~shaneris also refer!.

A variant of Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing therapy, which has been used successfully for those people suffering from anxiety: it is easily learned, quick to use, yet can be very effective, is on page N, of section 6, and I use it before the relaxation techniques, because I have found that it makes them quicker to employ, and more effective!. Because OCD is considered to be related to anxiety, try getting yourself some "worry beads", (ask at a religious supplies store, Catholic church, or Muslim mosque) and deliberately replace your former activity with moving them about between, or around your fingers: it takes about 30 - 40 reps, for most people to instill a new habit!. A stress ball, or get a balloon, add a couple of tablespoonsful of flour, and enough water to make a stiff dough; tie and squish repeatedly!.

Psychological counselling, with a sliding scale, based on income, is available through many religious organisations, such as Catholic counselling, the Methodist church, and the Unitarian Universalists!. You don't have to be a member!. Try phoning 411 (U!.S!.A!.) There are many things he can do to help treat depression!. Moderate exercise for at least 20 - 30 minutes, daily, and up to an hour!. Brisk walking is good, and try to be mindful of the feeling your foot makes as it hits the ground: it is a relaxation technique!. Also use daily, one of the *relaxation methods in sections 2, 2!.c, 2!.i, or 11, and/or yoga, Tai Chi, and/or the EFT, in sections 2!.q, 2!.o, and section 53, at http://www!.ezy-build!.net!.nz/~shaneris whichever works best for you!.

Take 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements, daily: (certified free of mercury) it is best if consumed with an antioxidant, such as an orange, or grapefruit, or their FRESHLY SQUEEZED juice!. If vitamin E is added, it should be certified as being 100% from natural sources, or it may be synthetic: avoid it!. Also take a vitamin B complex which is certified as being 100% of natural origin; a deficiency in vitamin B9 (folic acid, or folate) is known to cause depression!. Around 30% - 40% of depressed people have low vitamin B12 levels!. Depressed females using the contraceptive pill may benefit from vitamin B6 supplements!.

Occupational therapy (keeping busy allows little time for unproductive introspection, and keeps mental activity out of less desirable areas of the brain)!. As options, if desired, either a known, effective herbal remedy, such as St!. John's wort, (a German variety, if possible; local ones may vary in efficacy; take with a meal) or supplements, such as SAMe, or Inositol (from vitamin and health food stores, some supermarkets, or mail order: view section 55 at ezy-build )!.

Initially, at least, some form of counselling, preferably either Cognitive Behavio(u)ral Therapy, or Rational Emotive Behavio(u)ral Therapy!. Co-counselling is shown in the first 3 pages of section 2, or online therapy, or even talking with someone you feel comfortable with, and a much more detailed post is on page R!. For you: Stress is addressed in section 42; see page i first!. See if he will do 15 - 30 mns of bisk walking with you, daily, and do the candlegazing with you, or make a Progressive Muscle *Relaxation instruction tape for him to use, daily, preferably twice, some hours apart!.

Hi!. We'll get through this, okay!?

You need a local state-funded hospital!. Hospitals that are state funded cannot turn people away if they are uninsured or the insurance company wont pay!. If you live near a medical school, that's the one you want!.

I understand the aversion to being at the hospital period, muchless having to be treated like garbage by staff or other patients!. His options - your options - are limited right now!. If the doctors believe he needs to be in the hospital then it's urgent!.

He has to overcome whatever aversion he may have to going to a regular hospital psychiatric ward as a voluntary admit or he can easily end up involuntarily committed to a state mental
hospital!. You want to avoid that at any cost!. Once they involuntarily commit you then they decide when you leave and it's a scary place!. Trust me!.

Get him into a hospital - any hospital with a voluntary psych ward - and do it now!. Don't wait!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I understand I hate insurance companies if they find the smallest glitz and a way out of paying they will do it , try and get your doctor to give him another paper with another diagnosis so he gets in and gets the help, the doctor can do it if he really wants to if not change doctors there is a way around this just insist your doctor helps him , good luck and don't give up p!.s!. take care of yourself remember baby is on his way you need to decompressWww@Answer-Health@Com
