Postpartum depression screening turned into prescription handout?!

Question: Postpartum depression screening turned into prescription handout!?
I went to my 6 month check up for post partum depression screening!. I've had a history of depression for many years!.
By the end of my appointment the doctor put me on:
ativan
celexa
trazodone
contine with zoloft

for depression, anxiety, and insomnia

is it normal to be prescribed more than one anti anxiety and anti depression medication at the same time!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Each of those meds serves a different purpose!. Ativan is a fast-acting anti-axiety med while celexa was probably added to help the zoloft control depression and anxiety!. While Trazodone is an anti-depressant it is often prescribed to aid sleep!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you were already on zoloft and it wasn't working it is not uncommon for them to prescribe another drug like celexa!. The ativan is for anxiety so that is something completely different!. The trazadone is for insomnia!. This is what doctors do!. They prescribe drugs to treat your symptoms!. That is all they can do, and trust me, they won't prescribe them if they don't think it is the best thing to do because they don't want to get slapped with a malpractice suit!. If you really are against this idea go to another doctor for a second opinion!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

um!.!.!.!.!.idk!.!.!.!.!.i would kinda be nervous to take that many perscriptions at once you know!. cuz you know i dont wanna say anything to scare you!.!.!.!.!.!.i want to give my little opinion and all!.!.!.!.but i dont feel comfortable saying it so i will just leave it at this!.!.!.!.!.!.i would kinda be carefull cause there is no telling what could happen with that many perscriptions or more!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.hope that made sence and helped but i guess ill email my lil "opinion" to you!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You now understand how the medical process is done!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, it's not normal in the sense that ideally you shouldn't be on any medication unless it's absolutely necessary!. I understand you requiring an antidepressant and maybe even needing a change, but that's way too much!.

On all of that you'll be a zombie and open yourself up to more side effects!. You may want to see a Psychopharmacologist!. It's a psychiatrist with special training in medications and finding the best match for you!. They are amazing!.

Ativan is addictive, Trazadone is usually given for sleep plus depression!.!.!. I'm not sure what she was thinking and believe it's best for you to only take what you really need!. Find a medication or two that can fit all of your needs!.

Please get a second opinion from another doctor/clinic!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
