Question: Borderline personality disorder question please look!?
Hi all,

My head seems so confused at times !. sometimes I forget how to even talk or reply to someone, my moods change rapidly, with little warning I can be happy one minute and sad and low the next why could this be!?

I have Borderline Personality Disorder and I am on medication of zyprexa and effexor
Answers:
Mood swings are indicative of Borderline Personality Disorder, as I am sure you know!. Did you tell the psychiatrist about the mood swings you have been experiencing!? Have you told your social worker!? Perhaps they could come up with a way to help you deal with them!. And, if the psychiatrist is aware that they are this drastic s/he may want to change/tweak the medications a little!.

Until then, maybe keep a journal of your moods and the changes so you can let them know how often they are changing and what is going on!. This will show them how much it is disturbing you and perhaps they can come up with some good ways to handle them!. Right now my ideas would be to find things that make you happy and try to do them!. Get out the list of things to distract yourself and use it, especially when you are sad or upset!. Perhaps it could help a little bit!.

Hope you feel better soon!. Email if it helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

More information is needed here:

How long have you been taking these medications!? Most psych medications take some time to reach therapeutic levels in the blood!. If you have been taking them for more than 8 weeks, perhaps its time to consider an increase in the dosages or frequency of the medications!.

Are you taking them faithfully every day!?
Missing doses can increase the amount of time that it takes for the medication to become effective!.

Are you taking ownership of your illness!?
Therapy isnt just so you can talk about people who p!ss you off!. It is a time of reflection to learn how to better respond to people and situations that would otherwise rub you the wrong way!. Also, while there certainly could be a chemical explanation for your symptoms, sometimes it is more important to know and to understand that the ultimate determinant in your behavior is YOU!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
