Question: Ninth Grade Success Group Ideas!?
I'm a school mental health therapist, and I've been asked to run a group at my school for students who are repeating 9th grade for at least the 2nd time (for some of the kids who have been selected for the group it is their 3rd or 4th time)!. It will meet weekly for six weeks with follow up meetings after each report card this school year to see how they are doing!.
Here is the problem!. I love working with kids individually, but I HATE running groups!. Does anyone have any great ideas for activities for the kids to work on during the next six weeks!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

How about self esteem builing!. Explain to them the "Guiding Stars"
Let them tell you what comes to their mind when they think of stars!. From there go to the movie stars, sports stars, etc!. The one outstanding quality each one of them has is that they ACT, are independent and not that easily influenced by what others say or think!.
Then explain the second star: STAR is an acronym for S-stop, T-think, A-act, R-review!. These steps are guaranteed to work for any kind of problem or situation you come up against!. - Another suggestion would be exercises in positive thinking!. Hope that helped!.
