I have Bipolar Disorder 2 & was recently diagnosed with it finally a few years ago, before this, I was put on every antidepressant in the book which never really worked!. My shrink says I have mixed hypomanic episodes of Bipolar Disorder & shouldn't take antidepressants, has anyone out there heard of this!? I am taking Depakote ER 1000 mgs & Wellbutrin XR 150 mgs, the doc says the Wellbutrin could be making my moods worse, any comments!? ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

before I was diagnosed with bp2 about 5 years ago, my regular doctor tried many antidepressants over the course of more than a year, and finally decided to refer me suspecting bipolar and not just depression!. I was diagnosed bp2 and also experience rapid cycling / mixed hypomanic episodes!. I was given meds for the bp2, and was put on Effexor xr to help with the severe depression!. I truly struggled greatly for about 2 1/2 years, and eventually had to stop working and get disability!. After stopping work, I assumed the stress/depression would get better!. It did not!. After reading many different articles on the effects of anti depressants on bp2, I discussed it with my psych and she was willing to let me stop taking the Effexor as a test!. I have never taken it again, with her blessing!. I did not know how horrible it was making me feel, until i stopped it, groggy, dragged out, and more depressed!. I really feel I might not have had to stop working at a job I loved if I had been only taking meds for bp2, and not the anti depressants!. I know from experience that not taking something without your doctors approval or knowledge is not a good thing, but I am blessed with a doctor experienced enough with bp2 meds that she has allowed me to 'test' the effects of stopping something I get dissatisfied with!. and sometimes I am glad to go back on it!.!. I also find this web site very informative and helpful!.!.!. hang in there!.!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, some doctors believe that antidepressants can make your mood swings worse!. If you are having problems with these mixed episodes they can try you on other mood stabilizers like lithium, neurontin, topamax, or lamictal, and they can also add an antimanic/antipsychotic agent like zyprexa, seroquel, abilify, geodon, etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, I have mixed bipolar disorder episodes and my doctor has me on Abilify!.!.!.It's for Bipolar & all of the mood swings and crazyness that fallows it!.!.But I have actually never heard of the med's that ur on!.!.!.I wish I could of helped out more, But I was just telling you that I also have the mixed bipolar episodes!.

And I wish you the best of luck!

I feel Wellbutrin lights up my brain!. Especially the connection between the two hemisphere!. I think a lot of people are beginning to feel the results of an underdeveloped right lobe, minus forty percent!. It's the answer side of the brain!. Too much tv and science and not enough spirituality and love!. Most sites are charging for what I give away free, but they usually have enough info on each one for me to piece it together!. Breaking words down and knowing how they work is probably the easiest solution!. It keeps advertising and misconceptions from invading your thinking with unsound, brain recking ideas!. Let me ask you, how would you answer the question, "What is truth!?" Most people say, "I don't know!." Do you think that may be a problem, if they don't know!. How do they decide!? How does the decider decide then!? The question, "What is truth!?" is meaningless without knowing the answer to the question, "The truth about what!?" Words are meaningful only in relation to something besides 'what' and 'is'!. The dictionary has enough trouble defining them with comparisons!. See what I mean!? Those kinds of questions and statements are used in persuasion and hypnosis!. Do you suppose advertisers, some news people and speech writers or anyone who really, really knows about these things, don't use that!? A word to the wise is sufficient!. Maybe women are getting the brunt of it as a byproduct of male abuse of power!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have mixed bipolar episodes, and am only on an antidepressant, Cymbalta!. My doc says I get the beginnings of a depression, then act manic to try to keep it from happening, but it creeps up on me anyway!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

not really sure!.!. ask your doctor!.!. i think he/she can determine!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
