Please help, I need some real advice here!!?!

Question: Please help, I need some real advice here!!!?
My mother-in-Law is completely delusional!. I know lot of people probably say that, but in this case it really is the truth!. My mother-in-law has lied about said or done the following things:

- lied about having cancer
-lied about having hepatitis
-she has told me my husband is/has cheated on me (why would she say that about her own son!?)
-she has told some of the children in the family they are Satan and really means it, she thinks this child is of the devil!. (not my kids cause I'd kick her *** for sure)
-of course it's my fault that my husband doesn't talk to her very much

If she calls and we don't get back to her right away, she leaves messages stating that she can't figure out why we are so mad at her!. Saying things like "why are mad, what have I done!?"

My Hubby was not raised by her!. She left him and his dad when my hubby was five!. She has been in and out of his life since then!.I told my husband that she really needs to be in a mental health facility!. Or a counselor to say the least!. Thankfully we live about 2 hours from her, so she can't just drop by!. I really do care about her health!. We have tried to help her by reassuring her that we care about her, but that only last for a couple of days tops! My hubby and I have been married for 13 years!. In the past, it hasn't been that big of a problem because we lived several states away!. Now we are closer to home and I really feel she is going off the deep end!. What should we do!? My hubby thinks it time to do something too, we just don't know what!!

I used to work as a Registered Nurse in psychiatry for many years!. Yes, your mother is very delusional!. She is psychotic and needs to be on medication!. A counselor won't help her!. You and your husband need to take her to see a doctor and be with her when she talks to her doctor!.

I don't think that your mother in law is being mean or trying to hurt anyone!. I suspect that she was not lying about having those diseases but really believed she had them!. She sounds like she has paranoia!. If she has never had a diagnosis of a mental illness before and this is the first time she has been having these symptoms, she needs to have a complete medical work up to see if the cause of psychosis is due to a physical problem!.

I hope that you and your son will be able to get your mother in law in to see the doctor!. If she is unwilling to go you can check to see if she meets commitment requirements!. I'm not suggesting that your mother in law be permanently put in a hospital, it would just be temporary!. I'm just going over all the possible ways that she can be helped!.

I hope your mother in law will cooperate with going to see a doctor and will accept taking medication!. She may have to supervised when she takes the medication until she is much better!. People who have paranoid delusions are often paranoid about medication, think it's poison, and don't take it!. If that is the case, they don't get better!.

I hope That something that I have said has been helpful!. God bless your family!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I recommend having her go see a doctor!.!.!.with those symptoms it could be Huntington's disease!. Sounds like my own grandmother! Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sounds like mom-in-law feels the need to be noticed!. Does she go to the doctor often and is she on several med!.
JUST a starting place it sounds like she may have a personality disorder, perhaps Histrionic with Hypochondriac features!.
First thing I would do is gain some level of her trust, then see if she'll allow you to go to her GP doctor with her!. I would discuss your concerns with her there, or it could cause more hostility!. I would approach it with her and to the doctor as "we are extreemely concerned about NAME due to the following things!. Be specific and ready to name off examples other wise she will just say "I don't do that" I would come very prepared with everything written down!.
I would say husband is right, it is likely to worse as she gets older, unless she is on the proper medications!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
