Do therapists use cop outs on purpose? ?!

Question: Do therapists use cop outs on purpose!? !?
I see a therapist every few weeks!. I was hesitant if I should even go today or not, because I don't know if it is helping me!. So as we were talking today, it came up that I have issues with anger about random things that have happened in the past!. I have known this, and wondered, "how do I get rid of all this anger!?" So, throughout the session, I vented about a couple things, and we made our next appointment, which isn't for like 3 weeks!. So I asked her, well what can I do between now and when I see you again that will have "therapeutic value"!? And so, she said to me, "make a list of all the things you are angry about"!. Wtf!?!? I mean, for real, I will put the fact that she said that on my angry list, because I could have figured that much out!. What is a therapist supposed to do!? I am in nursing school, and we are learning that if a patient says he can handle aggresive treatment for all his diagnoses, we will administer all the care we can, anything we can do to get them back to wellness!. I want aggressive treatment! Where do I go where someone can figure me out and I can leave therapy sessions feeling drained because I got so much out, but good, because I know I am getting healed!? Are my expectations of a therapist unrealistic!? I hate leaving there and feeling like I am wasting my money!. I'm going to school, I see how much studying you have to do to get a degree, I see all the different options for therapy that there are on how to treat patients/clients!. She has her f*ng master's degree, why doesn't she use any of those treatments on me!? Anyway, all I want is to know, are there better treatments out there that anyone has had and does it sound like this therapist is just not doing her job, or is this just the way it is supposed to work!? You need to communicate this super-clearly to your therapist at your next appointment!. I would even consider bringing in this web-page to show her where you were at emotionally when she gave you that response!. Personally, I think it is unethical to keep clients around for awhile without progressing in the treatment course!. In other words, I'm shocked that she hasn't begun any type of cognitive behavioral therapy or some other evidence based practice course!. I would feel blessed if I had a client as interested and motivated as you!

Quite honestly, I would bring this in to show her, again, where you were at and exactly how you felt!. Let her know, clearly, that you want more aggressive treatment!. If this is something she cannot provide, I would consider seeking another therapist!.

The only scenario where I can understand why the therapist didnt do anything was if it was early into your sessions from the first-third session!. This is still considered assessment phase and sometimes people overshare and then never come back again!. She may have wanted to prevent this from happening!. But somehow, I think when you said "few weeks" it sounds like youve gone more than three times!.

good luck!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Honestly, I do not believe you can do any in-depth therapy that "leaves you feeling drained" when you only go once every three weeks!.
Part of therapy is the relationship between you and the therapist and you are barely seeing her!.!.!.to make any type of relationship!.

The other part of therapy is working through the transferance or working through those feelings that you project onto the therapist!. But since you barely see the therapist, the transferance is not going to develop!.

You need to talk to your therapist and find out if she does more in-depth therapy and express your wants and needs!. If she can't meet them, find another therapist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
