Can someone explain multiple personality disorder to me, i don't understand!!

Question: Can someone explain multiple personality disorder to me, i don't understand!!?
Answers:
The modern term is called Disassociated Identity Disorder (DID!.)
This disorder means an individual has more than one distinct personality!.
This cause by trauma, usually early in childhood!. It is most often cause by sexual trauma!. The mind cannot handle the stress so it develops another personality to take on the stress!. This new personality takes on the characteristics of an entirely new person who can deal with the pain so that the original personality would have no memory of the pain that the new personality endured!.
Once a split in the mind has occurred, it becomes easy for the mind to split again and again!. Many people with DID have several personalities (or "alters!.")
Different personalities often have different names and mannerisms and a switch between alters can be physically visible!.
The reason the term "Multiple Personalities" is not longer used is because it is not entirely accurate!. Many people with DID have one or more alters that are not fully formed!. These alters have been created to perform one specific task but cannot function to do anything else!. Sometimes the task is something as basic experiencing a particular emotion that the other alters have difficulty with!.
I have DID and am aware most of the time of what is going on when somebody else is "out!." Some people with DID are not!.
If you want to see movies with people who have DID such as "Sybil" do it to see the switches in personalities!. Do not see it to get an idea of how the average DID person behaves!. Sybil was an extreme case where her condition was debilitating for her life!. Most people with DID function perfectly well in society and are not a danger to themselves or others!. Just like any disorder, there are varying degrees of it and the extreme cases are rare!.
Some people with DID are "cured" through integration, meaning that through intense psychiatric therapy, all the alters have been melded back into one "mind!." However, most people with DID do not need such a cure!. If fact, such a cure is counter productive to most DID people because they have learned to adapt to the world with DID and integration would mean they would have to adapt to the world all over again with their new "mind!."
Another thing to know, if you didn't already, is that many people mistakenly believe that DID and schizophrenia are the same thing!. They are not!. Schizophrenia is a hereditary disease that can cause hallucinations and sometimes madness!. The two disorders are often mistaken to be the same thing because someone with schizophrenia can behave as if they have more than one personality!.

That was a bit long but I hope it helped!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is now called Dissociative Identity Disorder!. When a young person, usually less than 8, is exposed to trauma from which they cannot escape, their personality may fragment, or dissociate, into several distinct sub-personalities!.
