You must first of all distinguish between being fed up, pissed off, browned off or whatever else you want to call it with clinical depression!.
This latter is horrible and only those who have been through it even mildly can have any hope of realised what a sufferer is ]trying and failing to cope with!.
Treat all medication with great suspicion!. The doctors do not really understand the problem and tend to push pills in the hope that they will cure the problem!. They won't but will give you a little time only many are additive in spite of what the medics say!.
Eat properly
Get away from work for a while
Get plenty of fresh air
Exercise will get at the frustration which has sparked this off!. If you are not very fit you will be so tired that you will not be able to think of anything else
Ignore the sometimes well meaning comments such as "pull yourself together" " Get a grip on yourself" as if you are not trying to do just that and "It's all in the mind" You know that and do not need reminding especially as you are also ashamed to be suffering from this!.
It may be as well to try and make some plans as to your future

Okay, this might sound cheesy or something but helping other people really helped to bring my mood up!. I helped with the elderly and with young children ( i adore kids) it really made me feel good and like i was actually on this earth for a purpose, i had to stop doing good things because i had to go back to school and i have really seen my mood drop dramatically, probably because i have lost all my friends but i won't go into my life as it's your question not mine, so it proves it because wen i was doing good deeds my mood rose (not back to normal just better) and now im back to normal life ive dropped back into deep depression!. I also found it really helped having support from my family, especially my mom :) Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have lived with anxiety and depression most of my life!. I have been to several therapist and psychiatrist!. And went through about 15 different medications until I found one that works!.
My suggestion is that you call your local guidance center for an evaluation and speak to a therapist!. That is the first step !. And many time just talking to someone can help!.,
I know it is hard to get up and get out of the house but you have to force yourself to stay involved in the world!. It is too easy to shut yourself off!. And that only makes things worse!. And it makes it harder to get up the next day!. You have to force yourself to move on!.
You can also call your local help line!. Talk to someone!. Anyone!. A counselor, therapist,,clergy, friend or family!. Talk about it!. Seek out help!. And force yourself to keep moving!. It gets easier everyday but you have to make the first step!.
You can even find a chat line on a depression site!. Talk about it!. Get it out!. Get some support around you!.
I take cymbalta and it works!. It changed my life!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Up to 70 percent of people with depression respond to antidepressant drugs!. These medications appear to work by altering the levels of serotonin, norepinephrine, and other neurotransmitters in the brain!. They generally take at least two to three weeks to become effective!. Doctors cannot predict which type of antidepressant drug will work best for any particular person, so depressed people may need to try several types!. Antidepressant drugs are not addictive, but they may produce unwanted side effects!. To avoid relapse, people usually must continue taking the medication for several months after their symptoms improve!.

Commonly used antidepressant drugs fall into three major classes: tricyclics, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO inhibitors), and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs)!. Tricyclics, named for their three-ring chemical structure, include amitriptyline (Elavil), imipramine (Tofanil), desipramine (Norpramin), doxepin (Sinequan), and nortriptyline (Pamelor)!. Side effects of tricyclics may include drowsiness, dizziness upon standing, blurred vision, nausea, insomnia, constipation, and dry mouth!.

MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), and tranylcypromine (Parnate)!. People who take MAO inhibitors must follow a diet that excludes tyramine
