What is disassociation?!

Question: What is disassociation!?
Answers:
Dissociation means "to pull away from"
A person with a dissociative disorder will pull away from the present time and situation!.!.!.in his mind he feels detached, sometimes as if dreaming or floating, or in another world!.

On the extreme end of dissociative Identity Disorder DID, is Multiple Personality!. Only one personality is aware of the present situation at any one time!. The other personalities are dissociated - pulled away from the here and now!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Disassociation is taking yourself and stepping out of the situation!.

Let's say, you are having a bad hair day - you imagine yourself in black and white and in a framed photograph and then you step out of the scene, it puts you outside and looking in on the situation so that you can see what is really important!.

The black and white gives it a past appearance and the frame makes it a moment in your life and then you just can walk away from the picture!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you're in a place but do not feel like you're really there, that's more like depersonalization, like being a detached observer!.
Dissociation, not 'disassociation', is a split in reality!. People dissociate when they trance out on the highway and miss their exit!. People dissociate when, in the midst of being abused, they 'leave' and feel themselves outside the window, or up in the corner of the room, looking down!.
In extreme cases, dissociation presents as dissociative identity disorder, where the person's sense of self is split and there's no centered sense of identity, there are many 'selves' with different names, ages, histories, etc!. This used to be called Multiple Personality!.
What you describe is not so severe!. You might want to ask yourself why you need this emotional distance!. If you can understand that, you may find other ways to deal with your life that allow you to stay present!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

disassociation is more than just pulling away from!. it is deeper!.
i was in group therapy!. a patient in there had it!. it is when the emotional pain or the emotional memory is more than the person can bear!. she would go to sleep no matter where she was, when she dissociated!. it is like escape from the pain!. it is a way to deal with it!.
it is medically treated from a psychiatrist!. plus therapy to help deal with all of those painful issues!. sometimes, the person may also have bi-polar or ptsd!. it is something to go see a doctor about, so one can get the help they need and deserve!. sincerely,rWww@Answer-Health@Com
