Need help am really confused at work? Anyone dealing with lack of concentration !

Question: Need help am really confused at work!? Anyone dealing with lack of concentration and memory problems!?
I am able to follow verbal instructions when they are very clear and black and white!. However I become confused when taking any sort of verbal instruction that is off-the-cuff or which needs short-term memory to remember something!. Like for instance someone will tell me to pass a message onto someone and I will confuse the message and not pass on the correct information!.

When I am anxious about the above things I become disorganised, like not making lists, not following through on what Id promised and basically acting irresponsible!.

For the last twenty years I have been talked about behind my back and abused by some of my co-workers!. Sometimes my bosses have joined in on this and I dont stand up for myself because I dont know how!.

I am acting really flakey lately because I have psychosis and these problems at work with my memory and concentration!. I am beginning a new job and really dont want to stuff it up!. Please help!.

Does anyone know if I can get help for these problems!? Is there a diagnoses I should look in to!? Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
the best thing i could tell you to do is seek counseling!. i know that being between jobs might make that difficult, but if you talk with a psychotherapist about your situation, they would be able to help you out with that until you were able to pay!.

i personally write everything down!. my desk looks crazy with all the lists, and information i've written, but it helps me with trying to remember, and getting things done in a prioritized manner!. i know you said you hadn't been keeping "lists"- but maybe this is somethign that you totally have to focus on now!. just to make sure you got what info you need, and can accomplish the tasks at hand!.

as for the coworkers and management making fun of you- the thing i do to help combat this is to make jokes about it with them!. make it look like it's things you already realized, and joke about it!. for example:

one of my coworkers mentioned that i have no ankles!. i don't necessarily have "cankles" but i do have small ankles!.

i said, yeah i know, and it doesn't matter how many times i dislocate my ankles, roll them, sprain them, they are still rinky-dink ankles!. and then i show them off!.

another thing was when they though i was the one snitching on them!. i hadn't "snitched" on them at all- it actually was some one else!. but when they atarted making "squeak, squeak, squeak" noises (like a rat)- i actually thought that **** was funny!. i laughed and did it along with them!. they got tired of me thinking it was funny, and quit!. now they understand it wasn't me who was tattling- and we actually all get along now!. they also appreciate the fact that i can take a joke!. sometimes what they make fun of me about hurts, but if i laugh it off, and make them think it doesn't, they quit!.

also working with only guys, and being the only female- it makes it hard!. i'm the butt of every joke it seems!. but hey- sometimes what they say is flippin' funny!

but like i said earlier- the best thing i could tell you to do is to talk to a psychotherapist!. they can help you with coping/management skills that may help!. if there is further help taht is needed, they will be able to help you with it!.

best of luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

A short-term memory problem might actually be the cause!. See your regular physician, and describe some instances to him/her!. The doc will probably be able to give you a referral to an appropriate person - a counselor, or coach of some kind who can teach you some methods for helping your memory and concentration!. If you do have a diagnosable condition, that will help your new boss and co-workers be able to understand where you're coming from, and you will be able to find resources to help!. Make sure you carry a pad and pen around with you and write EVERYTHING down the moment you are asked to do something!. I have this problem and at times it really freaks me out because I used to have such a good memory!. I do not know what is the cause as I dont suffer with depression or anything like that, I dont get anxious either so I just put it down to getting older and hormones and kids :)

The writing stuff down works ok for me so give it a try!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like you might need some treatment for anxiety!.
If you have a psychosis, you should be seeing a doctor and getting treatment for your condition!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

write me at lidianegrila@yahoo!.com!.if you want i could help you with that!.I found something that it could change your life forever!.I hope to hear from you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

sounds like paranoia!. you may be just bored with your job!. there is nothing wrong with you!.!.suck it up and pay attention!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I work in an office setting and sometimes several things are happening at my desk at one time!. The only way that I can keep things straight is to write it down!. Take the time and write stuff down!. Take notes when someone is telling you how to do something and if asked to relay a message, write down the message so you make sure you get it right!. If you don't understand what you are being told, tell the person you don't understand or repeat back to them what you believe they want you to do and if its not right, they will tell you!. Make sure that you concentrate totally on what they are saying to you and don't sit there thinking "I'm never going to remember this" or "I don't know if I can do this", that will only set you up for failure!. No one is going to think bad of you if you do this!. Its part of doing business!.

I'm also happy to hear that you are starting a new job!. I can't believe that the people you worked with were making fun of you and even the bosses were joining in!?!? What fools!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
