How to diagnose a mental illness?!

Question: How to diagnose a mental illness!?
Because there is so many types of mental illnesses from mild to depression to full blown schizophrenia how can you be diagnosed with the exact mental illness that you have because I feel like I have much more than one illness and the doctor wont make an accurate decision on the type of mental illness that I have, and I fear I could be put onto medication that could make me even worse!. In my GP appointments I also miss so much out when the doctor asks me my feelings like I will tell him part of the problem but I never am able explain the full picture which makes me paranoid I may never escape my unknown mental illnesses!. However I am keeping a record of my thoughts and feelings on a daily basis so do you think it will be a good idea to show this to my GP even though some of the things are embarrassing Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try finding the DSM IV TR - it's what psychiatrists use to diagnose mental illnesses, perhaps you can read through it and get an idea of what it might be (then talk to your doctor about what you think) or you'll see how hard it is to diagnose a mentall illness!. For some people it takes many years, for others just a few months!. I hope you find what you're looking for!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

For your confusion, there are so many mental illness out there and each one them with their own characteristic!. However there are possibility that one person can have more than one mental illness!. Maybe it is why your GP doesn't (or couldn't) tell you what is your mental illness because it is so many (it is a big thick book)!.

About the mental illness medication, there aren't so many medication group that you can have, there just would be anti-psychosis, anti depression, mood stabilizer!. i think that is the major drug group!.

However, the medication is depend on your illness severity, so it is a good idea to tell your GP about your feeling, your thought, your paranoid, etc!. so that your GP can see how severe you are!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
