How do you handle a friend with depression?!

Question: How do you handle a friend with depression!?
I think my friend is suffering from depression and wants to move to boarding school for her last two years of high school!. She thinks that she does not have any close friends or anyone that likes her!. This is not true as my friend and I always tell her we are here for her!. We love her but she is insistent on running away from her problems!. Her ex boyfriend and old best friends are not handling the situation with care, avoiding confronting her!. Telling her and inviting her places does not seem to do anything!. She excludes herself from social outings with us most of the time and gets upset when we insist she come with us!. We are trying to let her know she is included!. Do we persist in these situations or leave it!? How do we show her she has people that care and how do we make her WANT to stay!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You are a good friend and a great person to want to help your friend this way!.

Unfortunately it is really hard to change someone's mind - especially about themselves!. You can keep giving positive feedback to her and keep letting her know that you value your friendship with her!.

I would keep inviting her to things, even tho she doesn't often go!. If you stopped inviting her, then she would *really* feel like she had no friends!.

You can do your best to make her feel valued, but ultimately it is her own choice to accept what you're saying or to reject it!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

From my experience it would be best for you to tell her you're really worried about her!. It would mean unfortunately to put her above your friendship!.!.!.in the end you have to decide what you care about more!.!.!.Otherwise there is nothing you can do to help her!.
Tell her when she looks nice, tell her when she does well in school!.
If she gets really bad than talk to a teacher!. This might make her hate you for a while, but it might make her life much better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
