Tips for dealing with depression/anxiety w/o meds?!

Question: Tips for dealing with depression/anxiety w/o meds!?
I've dealt with depression and anxiety since middle school (I'm 5 years out of high school) and recently had problems because of changes in medications as well as problems with side-effects from the medications!. I went off all of the meds early this spring to get it all out of my system and start over (fresh diagnosis) so I can figure out what's really going on with me!. Does anyone have any advice for dealing with this!. Home-remedies, inspirational/motivational books, anything at all!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I fond meditation a help!.

Smells are often connected with emotion, so try finding candles/essential oils/etc that hav a good possitive connection for you - vanilla, lavender, cookie dough, clean linen - whatever works!.

Have you tried and herbs or vitamins!? I fond St John's wort, omega 3, and B vitamins to be a help!.

Dark chocolate is a good boost when you're having trouble - it triggers the production of seratonin in the brain!.

Sunlight is a help - if you don't get enough the usual way they make light bulbs that replicate sun!.

I find tea a soothing thing to drink!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i have had years of experience working with people who have depression and anxiety!.
these are the things i have found help people cope, manage and understand their depression without medication!.
some kind of talking therapy, counselling, psycotherapy, group therapy!.
undertaking some kind of vocational/voluntary work for a few hours a week!.
light exercise!.
spending time with family and friends (especially children)!.
and you have to have some FUN on a daily basis!.
good luck! i have seen many many people overcome depression without the use of meds!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should be able to find inspirational books at a local bookstore - just ask the workers if they have something like that available!. Some people claim benefits to omega 3, etc, and it's always worth trying!. For that I'd see your local GMC because they have ALOT of choices and are fairly knowledgeable!. Otherwise, like people her have said - stay busy, take up hobbies, encourage friends to watch for symptoms and help out (get you out of the house for awhile or just stick around and talk you through your problems)!. Try therapy if you can, I think it works wonders!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have also dealt with depression for a long time!. I am on prozac now but have been on many different things since I was 15 (im 22 now) Some things that have helped me are exercise or just getting out of the house!. I will go outside and lay in the hammock or go for a bike ride, that always makes me feel better!.!. Or soak in the tub with a good book!. Also talking or writing in a journal helps me!. It always feels better to get your problems out in the open rather then keeping them inside, even if your just writing it down then tossing it!. Good luck with whatever you choose to do!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, i dunno all the facts that are associated with these medications but I can tell you that your happiness and/or depression (unless there is a serious chemical imbalance) is highly based on how you chose to deal with certain situations!. A lot of people mistake a cheery attitude with optimism!. While yes, being optimistic from the outside appears to be cheerful, optimism only leads to disappointment!. Don't expect to much out of the world, and you have to find a way to realize stuff is gonna bite rear-end, but you have to make the best of every situation!. I know a lot of people won't agree but I can honestly say that at least MY happiness is solely based my how i CHOSE to deal with things!. I chose to be happy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i suggest that you really find out what it is that makes you happy and what it is that you spend hours doing and it will take your mind off from wondering too far!. you should engage yourself in activities that you enjoy and with people you enjoy being around!. writing always helps as well!. of course these are cliches, i can't really tell you what to do because i'm not exactly sure how you feel!. i have a friend who can relate to you and this is what i always suggest to her :) hope it helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are methods to follow to cure panic attacks in a wholesome, natural way!. Although there are those who choose the route of medication or drugs to cure their symptoms, the panic attacks may not cease altogether if the root of the problem is not addressed!. Medications can sometimes simply mask the problem instead of solving it!. Unfortunately, many become addicted to the very drugs that are supposed to help them overcome or cure their panic attacks!. One problem might seem better, but another has developed!.
