Does this make me a masochist?!

Question: Does this make me a masochist!?
Often, whenever something bad happens to me, such as when someone gets angry at me or I find out that someone I'm in love with doesn't feel the same way, I get this momentary sense of elation!. I'm not sure why this is!. I could think of two reasons this might be so:

1) One of my often repeated sayings is, "What I most feared has come to pass!." Do I feel excited when I get bad news because I don't have to dread the worst outcome anymore!?

2) A lot of times, I don't think I deserve good things in life!. Could I be a masochist!? Am I crazy!? Has anyone else ever felt this way!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I wouldn't say you are a masochist!. To be a masochist, you'd have to intentionally go after people you know will have a negative reaction to you in the long run!. I think what has happened is that you are sort of happy to prove yourself right the maybe people are emotionally undependable and not there for you!. This in turns gives you a chance to say, "See!? I can do this myself!"

My concern here is that you will continue to get this high from these situations as s you age!. This would be a problem!. Because, as we get older, the more we need people!. Living in a vacuum where you can't depend on people's affections or emotions is psychologically damaging!.

To get out of this rut, you will need to talk to someone professional, because I am thinking you must have had some kind of emotional trauma in many situations like this as a young person!. Right now, the high brings comfort, but understand as time goes on, it won't be practical for living life!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Years ago I read something about how "delicious" it feels when you're young to be in the pit of despair and feel unloved and like the whole world is against you!. I thought it was really an odd thing to say until I thought back about when I used to run into my room to have a good cry as a teenager!. There really is something about that emotion that feels good at the same time that you feel miserable!. It's hard to put a finger on why or what exactly it is, but I know what you're talking about!. Perhaps it's some kind of coping technique the brain employs!. The good news!? You'll out-grow it!. (Actually I'm not sure that's good news, when you get older feeling miserable is basically just miserable!)Www@Answer-Health@Com
