There's different classes that affect different chemicals in the brain!. Search on Wikipedia for "Anti-depressants"!. The most common are SSRI's - which stop the brain re-absorbing Seretonin in the brain which is commonly linked to high mood!. That's why they say being in the sun (which increases Serotonin production) makes you happy!

But in reality no one really knows 'why' they work, they just do!. It's the chemical in them messing around with brain chemicals + a placebo effect (placebo's have a noticable anti-depressant effect)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well what i heard was that there are some things in anti-depressants that are derived from natural ingredients but are not competely!.!. does this make sense!? and as for the anti-depressant happy thing, thats because the things in antidepressants are supposed to balance out any chemical inbalance in your brain (which is one of the causes of depression)Www@Answer-Health@Com
