It's odd that he would be prescribed medication without a diagnosis!.

Many of us feel that the medical community is in the pockets of the pharmaceutical companies, and are encouraged to hand out scripts, increase the profits of the companies and get rewarded!.

But I digress!.

He may actually have a food allergy - such as gluten (found in wheat among other things)!. This kind of thing would not be a cause of the condition, but would certainly aggravate it, that is make it worse!.

Other dietary factors include processed foods, caffeine, sugar, food additives etc!. Try rye bread, oat based cereal, rice instead of pasta etc!.

He may have nutritional deficiencies, that is not getting the right vitamins and minerals!. People with psychological and emotional issues often need higher (in some cases much higher) requirements!.
Such as the B vitamins - which like vit!. C are water soluble and safe in higher amounts!.

He needs to exercise that is get into some physical activities on a regular basis!. This will utilize the energy he has, but also, oxygenate his system which is really helpful!. Even long walks are good!.

when you ask about finding professionals, you can see my bias is toward alternative, natural sources!.

You could also try TCM - Traditional Chinese Medicine!. I have been to a TCM doctor, the consultation was inexpensive ($10) and about $60 worth of herbs, that i made a not very yummy tea out of!. And I found it helpful!. But they were good at finding things out for me!. Their system is all about getting the body/mind in balance so a natural healing process can occur!.

The consultation involved simply taking a good look at my tongue and taking my pulse for several minutes - and I was surprised to hear what they found (ie!. they could tell i had asthma as a teenager, had a traumatic jolt to the back when i was a kid etc!.)

I can't imagine the stress and concern you must feel!. And i wish you all the best!.

If you son is less than 18 years of age, then you have every right to demand an answer!. If you don't, then I would recommend that you switch providers!. If your son is 18 or older, than he needs to sign a release of information before they give you any information!. And, usually, they will release the smallest amount of information!. Most likely if he has a diagnosis of psychosis, they are still likely trying to determine the cause!. His psychosis can be related to a mood disorder (think depression or bipolar), schizophrenia, substance use, or related to a medical condition!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Probably, the docs want to observe him longer before making a final diagnosis!? I'ts possible that his psychotic symptoms overlap between shizophrenia, bi-polar, or depressive psychosis!? It may take some time, sorry to say!. Too often, a diagnosis is a 'label' and they don't want to privide either you or he with a wrong label Also, if your son is over age 18, they can't legally tell you his diagnosis without his permission!. If he's psychotic, then he can't intelligently give that permission!. Try to be patient, and good luck to you!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most physicians can pretty well from their education and their experience if they are psychiatrists!. For advice on medications they often turn to the Physicians Desk Reference which is updated regularly!. Sometime no matter how smart they are your son may be atypical psychoticWww@Answer-Health@Com
