Anyone have a daughter or son who has ADHD?!

Question: Anyone have a daughter or son who has ADHD!?
I know that this mostly can't be diagnosed till kids are toddlers, but now that you know that your kid has it!. Do you remember how they behaved when they were babies!?
I'm probably jumping to conclusions but my DD is 11 mo and is soooo hyper!. When I pick her up, she gets so excited she squeals and kicks her legs like crazy!. It's most likely she's just a very happy baby but I do know that ADHD runs in my SO's family!.
What's it like to raise a child with that disorder!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Usually, ADD or ADHD is not detected until about the age of 5 or 6!. My daughter was diagnosed with ADHD when she was 5 1/2!. She has always been extremely active and busy as a baby and toddler and was having a lot of problems being disruptive and unable to sit in her seat in kindergarten!. I had her tested by a psychiatrist to get an accurate diagnosis!. She tested WAY off the charts since a lot of those tests measure intellect!.

I decided to have her put on medication and it has really helped!. It's not a "fix all", but any day she does not have her medication is a day where I am guaranteed to get a call from her teacher or in for a lot of arguments from her!. She is way ahead of her classmates academically and is a GATE (Gifted and Talented) student!. She is incredibly smart with a logic I have not seen other children of her age possess!.

Some days it's wonderful to raise a child with ADHD!. She is so curious about the world around her and has a hunger to learn new concepts and ideas!. Other days, it is such a fight to do the simplest of tasks like getting shoes on and hair combed!. She has days where she is so mouthy and ends up being grounded a lot!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

11 month old is way too young to tell!. ADHD is diagnosed way to often with the help of very lazy parents, who just don't want to deal with these kids!. Please don't be one of those parents!. The school told me that I needed to have my 7 year old medicated and I fought the school!. She is now 13 and the perfect student thanks to all of her energy and the fact that I did not medicate her for the sake of sparing a few lazy teachers of doing their job!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think your baby is very normal, my daugter does the same thing when I pick her up, she's so excited to get my attention! My son has ADD which is almost the same thing just without the hyper part and we didn't get the diagnosis until he was 6 or 7, he's 9 now!. The more I look back on it I don't really notice anything unusual except I was always trying to keep him entertained whereas my 10 month old daughter can play by herself for a long period of time!. But when I got my son diagnosed they told me they can't really say until they are around 5!. I was in denial and didn't want to believe the teachers until he struggled in kindgergarden then had to take first grade again, knowing what I know now, I would have the child checked around 5!. Before then, just enjoy the happy baby, they can't do anything before age of 5 anyway!. I hope this helps, sorry this is a long answer!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
