Abusing drugs...in a way...?!

Question: Abusing drugs!.!.!.in a way!.!.!.!?
I have a severe panic disorder and chronic anxiety!. I have been prescribed both Cymbalta, which I take once in the morning, and Klonopin - which the label directs to take as needed up to three tables of !.5 mg a day!.

I don't need to take that many, but every few days I have a panic attack, and they take up to two hours if taken orally to work!. If I feel a panic attack coming on, I crush and snort one tablet and it work withing 10 minutes, hence stopping the attack in it's tracks and allowing me to continue about my business without affecting my daily life!.

I don't do this every day, and I don't need to take them every day!.

What should I do in this situation!? I don't want to get into the habit, as I've only been doing this off and on for just a few days, and don't want to have to take pills that I don't need every day!.

Is there a better way to manage this without having to do what I'm doing!? Serious answers only please!.

And no, I haven't discussed this with my doctor yet!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

as per the other answers - snorting is bad !

Cognitve behavioural therapy is a way to get your symptoms under control, so hopefully you'll be able to manage with out the meds in the long run!. It takes practice, but well worth doing !.!. I have my panic attacks under control now without meds!.

http://www!.geocities!.com/alices_wanderla!.!.!. - example of how it works

remeber the panic attack is your body's respone to a percieved threat (even if you are currently conciously unaware of what on earth the percieved threat is!.) !.!. and if you tell yourself "I am not in any danger my body chemistry is just over reacting", the over reaction will calm down!. - A brown paper bag to breathe into can help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

snorting them is bad!.!.!.too much too quick will make it worse in the long run!. Talk to the doctor and ask if there's anything to make it work quicker!. I would leave out to snorting part!. You should stop snorting them, you'll get nose bleeds and worse!. GL!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Snorting it is b!.a!.d!.
Your not abusing it but if you continue to do this then you
WILL get addicted without even noticing it!. You should just take the pills like your suppose to even if you don't feel like it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's important that you are complete and honest with your doctor, they can not care for you properly if they don't fully understand your situation!. I wouldn't leave the snorting out, it will help you to show how desperate you become to ward off these panic attacks, and might lead him to give you some other medication that would be taken in the morning once a day that might keep panic more under control!.

You might also try working on some drug-free strategies to help you with panic, like breathing methods things that will help you to calm down physically!.
Good luck I hope things go well, and be honest with your doctor he cant help you if he doesn't understand!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Klonopin is useful for managing panic attacks and generalized anxiety that are recurrent and long term!. If you're having recurrent panic attacks -regardless- of being !.5 q3d of klonopin then you should perhaps talk to your doctor about altering the dose!. Either a higher dose or another benzodiazepine!.

If your panic attacks occur at the same frequency without klonopin, perhaps you should swap to a stronger, faster acting benzo like Xanax or Ativan!. They don't have the pharmacological oddness of klonopin (which is ironically what makes it good for constant issues), however they tend to be more sedating!. One of the above two meds would kick in about 20-45 minutes on an empty stomach!. Keep in mind that sometimes, that much like diabetes or migraines, you need to take daily pills to stop bad events from happening, not just medicate the when they do happen!.

But really, discuss this with your doctor!. Because he needs to know that your meds -aren't- working so that he can change them!. In the long run, snorting powdered drugs is not particularly good for your respiratory system!. It's your doctor's job to deal with this sort of thing!. Let him do his job!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
