Dear Mrs!. Faith,

When you drink while taking lexapro, your body is more suspectable to the effects of alcohol!. Lexapro is a powerful drug that works within your brain cells!. When you mix alcohol and lexapro the effect alcohol has on your body is intensified!. If alcohol normally makes you drowsy (after the buzz wears off), then the drowsiness is greatly intensified by drinking any alcohol when you are taking lexapro!.

The reason there is a warning label on a prescription bottle of lexapro to not mix prescription drugs and alcohol is because there is always the possibility of an accidential overdose!. I think, we have all heard those words so many times, we simply ignore them!. (I know I have!.) But, if you really think about it, do you want to risk your life!?

Odds are you won't die from mixing lexapro and one small drink!. You can ask your doctor if drinking one small drink is a legimate health concern when taking lexapro!.

In the end, the decision is yours to make!. It is your body!. It is your life!.

I hope you make the best choices for yourself and live a long and health life!.

Sincerely,

Anne R!.

I take 10mg Lexapro, and I do have an occasional drink!. As has been pointed out, be very careful - alcohol is a depressant, and kind of defeats the purpose of the antidepressant!. Also, taking the Lexapro does intensify the effects of the alcohol - in other words, it only takes about half as much to get "tipsy"!.

As with most things, moderate, and be happy :-) Www@Answer-Health@Com

In reality, I had a glass of wine once in a while when I was taking Lexapro!.

It "probably" won't hurt you, but stick to one drink and not very often!.

But the serious side of things:

It could cause a seizure!.
It could cause depressed breathing!.
It could cause vomiting!.
It will indeed give you a wicked headache!.
It could cause cardiac arrhythmia!.
It can cause liver failure!.
It can cause kidney failure!.
It can exaggerate the effects of the lexapro or the alchohol, making you feel more drunk or drugged out!.

Do not under any circumstances drive or be alone afterwards!.

Still want that drink!? Stick to a non-alcoholic beverage!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Drinking, in and of itself, will degrade your body and quality of life quicker than you can say, "What the hell is Lexapro!?" I'm not lecturing here, but I've had my fill of alchohol/ alchoholics, I was raised by professionals!. Tried the whole lifestyle myself for a while, but I really didn't like sinking to my parent's level!. I still have a drink once in a while, but generally never finish it!. As for mixing it with medicine, it's a bad idea!. Do one thing at a time, I suggest!. That way you don't have to worry about it!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well like so many people have told you-alcohol is a depressant- a very powerful one!. to begin with I would ask my doctor, after asking the doctor I would ask myself-why do I want to consume alcohol!?!? Is it to fit in with a group (drink coke with a twist-no one will know)!. If it's to change your mood you are headed down a dead end road!.!.!.
Bottom line do you want to get mentally better or be accepted by peers!. Number one if they are Friends they would not want you to do anything to harm yourself if they are not friends that Truly care-MOVE ON!. God Bless ReggieWww@Answer-Health@Com

First, let me say that not everyone will be effected in the same way!. You need to be careful!.

ok!.!.I have been on Lexapro 20 mgs for 1!.5 years!. I drink occasionally I haven't noticed a difference between before and now!. Except that my metabolism is reaaaaaaaaaaaaally slow so hang over or not you will find me in the gym the next day!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't listen to these idiots!. It is perfectly fine to have a few drinks every now & then, I was on Lexapro, it didn't affect me any different!. Even my shrink said it was fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You're 23 !? Why are you so depressed !?
I wouldn't drink too much with this drug!.
Alcohol is a depressant and the drug is for being depressed!.
Why do either if you're going to be depressed all the time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am on the same dosage!. I still go out with my friends and have a glass of wine sometimes!.

Becareful though!. Drinking and taking medication can be dangerous!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Little to nothing!. Just gauge your own reaction!. It might be *slightly* stronger per drink then before!. As always though, don't mix multiple depressants i!.e!. taking xanax or vicodin and drinking!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
