Bipolars: Do you think you suffered some type of permanent brain damage after yo!

Question: Bipolars: Do you think you suffered some type of permanent brain damage after your last episode!?
I never came back to where I was cognitively although my doctor said I should!. I have problems with reasoning, memory etc!. that comes and goes!. My medications are keeping me fairly balanced but I feel brain damaged!.

Also, I came back from my first episode with a strong mind and determination to succeed, which I no longer have!. I'm wondering if maybe I just have no motivation or fight left in me or if age has anything to do with this!.

Thank you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I've been on Thorazine, Lithium, Neurontin and Phenobarbital for years and in the past two years they have increased my Celexa from 20 mg to 60 mg daily!.
Without these medications, I'd probably be in jail or the real nut house for anti-psychotic behavior!.
Many medications can cause brain damage over the years!. And as we age, our brain cells begin to die out!.
Lithium is notorious for causing memory loss!.

No, not me!.

Did your doctor increase to dosage of your meds!? Are you on any anti-psychotics or tranquilizers!? I know that both of those types of meds can cause cognitive problems if the dosages are too high!.

Ask your doctor!.

Edit: the anti-psychotic is what is causing it !. Ask your doctor to lower the dosage!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ive never heard of Bi-polars getting brain damage!? Thats new news to me!? Even Bipolar I's who go nuts!. Im a bi-polar II and Ive gotten brain damage, but thats been from my drinking too much!. Drinking ****** my brain up for sure sadly! Im sure your fine, actually I believe that those bi-polar meds have really intense side effects that really mess with your cognitive processes!. I know because I took Lamictal for a year and a half and when I went off it I felt totally okay, almost better then when I was on them!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Bi polar disorder is a mood disorder and therefore does not cause physical damage to the brain!. Go see a psychiatrist to see if it's your meds!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
