Legal Rights With Self Harm?!

Question: Legal Rights With Self Harm!?
To put it bluntly, I have recently messed up and started self harming again!. One of the health care workers at my college knew i was thinking about it but doesn't know i actually went through with it!. I feel like i can trust her but i'm a little worried about telling her what i've done!. Does my self harm give her grounds to call someone and take action!. I know if you are considering suicide or anything similar (which i'm not at all) they can, but what about with self harm/cutting!? I am 20 years old!.

Please do not bother saying things like how stupid i am or anything!. I've fought with this for a long time and know full well what i've done!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have never SI myself, but I've recently completed a research paper on it!. I understand now why you would injure yourself!. With that said, the health care worker has a duty to warn someone if you are going to do serious harm to yourself, but in this case, if the worker is knowledgible about self-injurius behavior, then they know that your acts are not attempts to kill yourself-just ways to cope with problems; maladaptive yes, but not life threatening!.!.and he/she will not break your confidence!. Instead he/she will focus on your therapy, which by the way may increase the frequency of your acts initially!. Just focus on your therapy-your worker has your best interest at heart!. And remember--all people have problems, we just don't all deal with them the same ways!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think they might refer you to a therapist or counselor but they can't do much more than that, is what most people who've gone though the same situation as you have said!. You're over 18 so whatever they do it's your choice(and by that I do not mean I'm condoning what she's doing, I mean by whatever the person whom she wants to speak to does it's her choice on what to actually follow though with)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Depends where you're from!. If you live in California, then yes, they can put on a 51/50 hold!. Meaning you could be placed under mental observation for up to 72 hours!. If they feel you are safe to go then they let you out, if not you're in there for more time!. Yes, even if you're twenty!. It's one of those state laws!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ethically, I think it is consciously wrong not to alert someone about this; age is not a factor here!. It would not make any difference if you were 14, 47 or 74; if you are planning to do harm to yourself, you are in desperate need of a mental health therapist!. The therapist can help you get to the root of the problem before your simple cuttings advance to something far more serious!.!.!.for instance your death!.
Please seek counseling as soon as you can!.
Suicide and attempted suicides are illegal, just as homicide and attempted homicide is illegal!. The latter one you go to prison and the former, you are sent to a mental institution for evaluation!.
Harming yourself is just a step away from suicide, so don't kid yourself into believing, you are not on your way to death!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
