Answers:
It's real!.

But I wouldn't call it a chemical "imbalance", but rather a chemical difference!.

Everyone's brain functions on a different level!. That's how differences in personalities exist (differences in the function of the prefrontal cortex of your brain - the area that controls forethought, planning, and certain hormone secretions!.)
For example, some people don't seem to "think" before they speak, and seem quite rude!. But others have the ability to "buffer" what they want to do or say, and have en entirely different demeanor about them!.

Every "mental health condition" can be viewed as spectral!. They vary by degree, and not by "type"

Some people are "more autistic" than others with autism!. Some people are paranoid, while others may be extremely paranoid (schizophrenia)!. Some people are neurotic and particular, while others are more so (obsessive compulsive)!. Some people are anxious, while others are debilitated by it (GAD, agoraphobia)
Some people are slightly more emotional than others, and some are very depressive!. All of these behaviors are "normal", but can become a problem when it begins to effect the way you live your life!.
So, it *can* be considered a chemical imbalance!.!.!.!.!.but in reality, it's just a different balance that can become debilitating!.

ADD is a simple manifestation of the differences in functioning in the part of your brain that controls your "working memory"!. Your attention span is entirely dependent on the functioning of that part of your brain!. So while some people can pay attention for hours on end, some people easily "forget" (caused by high levels of cholene esterace) and lose focus!.

That being said:
People who suffer from *severe* add, or adhd are very easy to spot!. They speak *super* quickly, move around constantly, lose focus, *cannot* stop talking, and fidget with their hands and other things, *all the time*!. It can be so intense, in fact, that it is blatantly obvious to an outside observer!. You could simply look at them, and know they have ADHD!. But in your case, you may have what we call "ADD" , but to a lesser degree!.

ADD is overdiagnosed!. Probably more so than any other mental health disorder!. But everything is on a spectrum!. So while you may have ADD more so than someone who doesn't have it at all, there are usually equally as many who have it much worse!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ADD and ADHD are real diseases caused by chemical imbalances in the brain!. They are often diagnosed - a person who was "unruly" or "rambunctious" 20 years ago is now likely to be diagnosed as ADD/ADHD!. Many ADD patients are actually autistic or in the autism spectrum (this includes Asperger's Syndrome), due to similar symptoms!.

In my case, I was diagnosed and treated effectively for ADD for many years, only to be told that what I really had was a very mild case of Asperger's Syndrome!.

I take Concerta like Erica and I feel ADD is very real but has been tarnished with people that are not diagnosed to say that they do have it!. I can tell a huge difference in my thoughts and actions when I take my meds rather than a day that I forget!. It's so noticable that coworkers, friends and family can distinguish between days that I forget and days that I remember to take my meds!. I don't think that being ADD is more of a curse though!. A symptom is being 'driven' and when I take my meds I can focus my driveness and put my determination to the right things rather than trying to prove a meaningless point that broccoli is better than coliflower or something like that!. So ADD to me is more of a blessing than a handicap!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I suffer from ADD, I think the people who don't believe in ADD either do not suffer from it or have no children that suffer from it!. If you have a child that suffers from ADD or ADHD, YOU KNOW! I DO think doctors are fairly quick at writing some children off as ADD though!. And with the medications they give you, while it calms you down its also a struggle on figuring out exactly WHAT to focus on!. While my Concerta did great on helping me focus, it didn't tell me to focus on the teacher!.!.!.Instead I found out there were 283 squares on the ceiling!.!.!.!.:-PWww@Answer-Health@Com

ADD is real!. The symptoms are real!. Anyone that is telling you that it is your head (actually they are right from a certain perspective it is a mental illness), hasn't studied or met someone with the illness!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Real, but over-diagnosed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

real, I have a friend who has ADD and I don't think it is fake or she is putting extras on it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Of course ADD is real, it's a chemical imbalance!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
