You are more predisposed due to family history - maybe 25% more apt, but I'll do some research

There is an excellent user-friendly statistics chart at the website below

Family statistics
As can be seen from the graph below, schizophrenia definitely has a very significant genetic component!. Those who have a third degree relative with schizophrenia are twice as likely to develop schizophrenia as those in the general population!. Those with a second degree relative have a several-fold higher incidence of schizophrenia than the general population, and first degree relatives have an incidence of schizophrenia an order of magnitude higher than the general populace!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have a similar situation!. I have major depression, which runs through my mother's side of my family!. My mother, aunt, 2 uncles, and 2 cousins all had depression in various degrees of severity!.

However, my brother is mentally very stable, like my father!. I can't explain it very scientifically, but some children get "most" of their genetic characteristics from their mothers, while other siblings get most of their genes from their fathers!. So If your genes are close to your hospitalized aunts and cousins, you are likely to be more susceptible to the illness!. If your genes are closer to healthy relatives, you could be very healthy yourself!.

Again, this is not very scientifically precise, but I think you get the general idea!. This is, of course, a matter to be discussed with a doctor, preferably a psychiatrist!.

I am curious about your delusions with angels etc!. You said very little about them, so it is difficult to respond to that issue!. However, these are experiences that are worth keeping track of!. I wish you all the best!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes there is a chance and heredity does play a role, but this is something you need to discuss with your doctor!. Tell him how concerned you are and what you are feeling, seeing etc!. If you do end up needing treatment the earlier you start it the better!. You don't want to end up paralized with dysfunction if it were to happen!. Try not to spend a lot of time worrying about it, you may not even get it and even if you do stressing yourself out won't help the situation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Perhaps it's time to just talk to a trained professional!. Even if you don't have schizophrenia!. The fact is that is that your almost a carer!. Any info you get will you more info and corect info!. Rather then peoples options and being able to voice your concerns rather then having them bottled up is the first stage of good mental health!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think it does run in families!. It can be controlled!. If you are hearing voices you should see a doctor!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
