hi! there are some important things that you should know about depression!.

firstly many of the symptoms arent just feeling down all the time, do you feel incredibly tired all the time!? or have insomnia!? sometimes people eat excessivly or lose their appetite completely!.
sometimes, though i hate to say it, it is perfectly normal to go through phases of feeling like this especially when you're 15 (im 18 and i went through the same thing - i know its horrible!!)
The first steps you should take, are to try and cheer yourself up, make yourself feel a bit more positive, try and find what the problems are that are making you feel bad, and remember its okay to be stressed and upset! really have a good think about your life, and whats making you feel like this!? its not always the best option to just jump to the conclusion that you have depression!. If say, you feel very bored and unmotivated, maybe get yourself a job!? plan some things for the future, organise a few things to do with your friends!? these might seem small but they really can make all the difference!.
if you really are worried though, make sure you are patient with your mum, she might not even know anything about it! or if there is a way to speak to a school nurse or someone who knows you a little better, like a teacher they can give you a fairer view of what they think the problem is!. It's no good bottleing it up if you really try and you still feel like this!!
For a direct answer to your question, there is never going to be a 100% way that you KNOW you have it, but a doctor will diagnose you!. make a list of your symptoms and talk to him/her about it, but remember to be honest!
and about telling your mum, that really depends on your relation ship with her, but whatever way you tell her, make sure that you make it clear that you'd just like to go to the doctors and speak to them as they are much much more likely to give you better advice than anyone on the internet!
whatever you do though, do something! theres no point in feeling like this if you dont have to, and you dont :)
good luck with it all! Www@Answer-Health@Com

I can't answer this well enough but I'm gonna try!.

1!. I don't think you have it, I think you just want to have it!.

2!. You don't always have to tell your mom or a human being!. Just get a journal (SLASH) diary and scribble your feelings down and then make some goals (start with small goals, not too big like "walk on water") And make sure you do your HOMEWORK!Www@Answer-Health@Com
