How can a depressed student deal with college?!

Question: How can a depressed student deal with college!?
I was diagnosed with depression when I was 16!. I'm now 19 and in college!. I've been to three different school so far (I'm a sophomore) and I'm still not happy!. My advisor said he's surprised I haven't dropped out so far because most students like me (who have been to so many schools) just give up!. I feel like I just don't have anything to get out of bed for in the morning!. I just dropped my chemistry class because I was failing it already so I'm only a part-time student now!.!.!. meaning I'll have to be in school for an extra semester!. I'm honestly starting to think college isn't for me!. It's not that I'm stupid or that I don't try!. I was on the honor roll in high school, I played sports, had friends!.!.!.!. I was normal!.

I just feel like I'm forced to live my life out of order!. I have goals and ambitions, yes, but I just don't know how to get to them!.!.!. or I'm not able to get to them because of certain circumstances!.

Does anyone have any advice!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

hey don't worry it happens to the best of us!. My life was destroyed last year because i dropped out for an entire year from college!. I m in my fourth year at community college, i was suppose to transfer but like you said with your chemistry class some courses are a real hassle and they prevent you from achieving your dreams!. For me it was math and english, those two courses destroyed me in the past year as i couldn't find a way to deal with them and try to pass them!. I dropped those classes too because i thought i would fail them!. it was only until this past summer my mom suggested me to chose a medical field and i chose sonography and i realized they had a full program at my college!. Now i am restarting my life after four years of misery that ive suffered and hoping that this time around there will be change!. My advice in general is to take alternative educational paths if one doesn't work for you!. So if you can't transfer to a university, find a short alternative back up plan for your education!. I might not graduate for another two years but the time will be worth it!. Trust me in the end it pays off!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'd advice you stick with college and get some help dealing with your problem!. Therapy, Medication, yoga, meditation, whatever you need to get back to normal!. And do it now, cause god knows I should have walked this road years ago!. Dropping out of school is probably just going to make you feel more depressed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well, you don't HAVE to go to college, but it's a good idea!. But i'm in my first year of college, but i have nightschool!. So, you should think about taking night classes, so you won't have to get up in the morning!. I dropped my psy!. class, because i just couldn't do it!. $400 down the drain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

if u r being forced to do something just reject it and raise your steps towards your goals and ambitions!. if u got the real ambitions in your life, no circumstances can stop to achieve the goal!. you just have to find those so called 'certain circumstances' and make your first step on it!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Likeajellybaby gave you a very good answer!. In order to take on mentally challenging subjects such as chemistry, you need to be mentally fit!. Postpone your chemistry, and take the general requirements until you are in a better place mentally!. In the meantime, see a doctor because you do sound depressed!. Depression could be clouding your ability to think clearly and organize your thoughts!. If you truly want things to change, please see a doctor!. Depression feeds on itself and it will not change unless you take proactive steps to get a handle on it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was diagnosed with depression when I was 16 as well and took several types of medications that helped for a bit, but then stopped working after a while!.!. I made really good grades in High School and had several friends that helped me through alot of my depression!.!. Then my senior year I quit high school, moved out of my moms house and moved in with a one bedroom house with 5 other friends of mine!.!. The depression seemed to stop for a while until my friends decided to make something of themselves and I was left with the rent and all the other bills in the home (there is more to this story but will take a while to tell) !.!. My point to all of this is to tell you I have been dealing with this crappy *** depression for a longtime but I made a decison last year to get all my crap together and to sorround myself with friends that have have it together and that will help guide me through the steps!.!. You have to search yourself and find out what you like to do and what you want to do in life!.!. Focus on a short term goal and a long term goal and take baby steps until you get your stuff together!.!. You have become overwelmed which has caused you to become even more depressed!.!. If you dont do anything about it today you will find yourself standing behind a check out counter scanning peoples merchandise and wishing you had what they had because you didnt go to college!.!. You want to become that person on the other side of that counter making the purchases and being able to say to yourself "it was worth the struggle"!.!. Keep your head up high and start each day as a step forward and not a step behind!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am proud of you for sticking with it!! I can not believe that your adviser said that to you!. He sounds like a complete idiot!.

You did not say if you were put on any medications when you were diagnosed with depression, if you were you might need to change to a different one!. If you were not given anti-depressants you need to try them!.

It also makes me wonder what happened between high school and college!. It sounds like you are dealing with something different than school!. I feel that you like school, but there is something else you are looking for in your life!.

I hope you have someone in your family or a friend you can talk with who is supportive of you and will let you talk without judging you and let you get back to being yourself!.

Keep trying and you can succeed!

You have your own answer in your question!. In high school, you were on the honor roll and played sports, had friends, and lived normally!. The best way to fight depression is to get focused and regroup!. Figure out exactly what you want to be doing in 5 years and start to work towards that goal Also, don't stay isolated and inactive!. Get involved in a sport or some activity!. Make a list each day for what you want to accomplish and then do it!. Don't give in to depression because it's a bottomless pit that will demand more of you as you give in to it!. Also, don't forget about God!. He created you to have a good life and he wants to help you get there!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes! Stay in school, you can do this!. It might seem overwhelming now, but I promise it will get better!.

First, If you're in school, then you should have counselors provided by the school to students free of charge!. Please go talk to one, not an adviser (who sounds like he's just focused on academics), but to a counselor who is trained to help people who feel depressed!.

Second, this is has all really good resources for finding support groups, and more information about depression!.

Are you on any medication!? That might help you get over the hump!. Stay in school, see a psychiatrist, get some meds and force yourself to exercise every single day!. Its a natural antidepressant!. Also make sure you are getting proper sleep!. If you are not, get some help with that too, because sleep deprivation causes depression, depression causes more sleep deprivation, etc!.
Also don't take such hard classes like chemistry til you get a handle on this!. Take your general education requirements, starting with the easier ones, first and quit pressuring yourself to decide what your goals are!. Its ok to take your time!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Have you considered getting a trade!? Not everyone is made for the student life!. I am not stupid, neither is my cousin, yet the two of us opted for jobs instead of college!. She works in a bank and I have worked as a postman for over 14 years!. Indeed I write books in my spare time!. Life is what you make of it, not what other people want you to make of it!. Believe me, not had the depression bit, but have had the I can`t stand the idea of spending four years sitting a room listening to these people bitWww@Answer-Health@Com
