Question: At what temp!. Farenheit does your brain no longer function ,and or, dies!?
All right so my husband asked me this question the other night, and this ONLY pertains to the brain and NO other body part, such as the lungs or the heart!. I know that we need all of them to function, but our question is!.!.!. how much cold can the brain take!.!. does anyone know!? Can anyone find out!? Is anyone a neurosurgeon!? Www@Answer-Health@Com

The answer is that the brain never "dies" from cold, only arrests neural function; at around 86 degrees F you should expect a full metabolic shutdown, including most brain activity needed to sustain heart and respiration, however, the "death" of the brain is due to lack of oxygen, not cold temperatures!. The brain can be cooled to nearly freezing and theoretically frozen (if done quickly and properly) and still be "alive" as in that it has all of the chemical integrity needed to continue operation when it is re-heated!. Brain activity does not entirely cease until it is nearly frozen!. Even then it is not dead, more akin to being turned "off" and raising it in temperature (assuming oxygen is available) and activity will spontaneously resume!. I would look up articles on hypothermia and suspended animation for more information!.

I think!.!.!.two degrees up average human running temperature is enough to kill you!. Same as two degrees below!.!.!.so!.!.!.39/40 degress centigrade would probably do it for the brain!.

Interesting fact - birds run at 40 o C, whereas humans run at 37!.5 ish!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

A sustained fever of 107 will cause permanent brain damage/kill you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
