Are certain jealous tendancies a symptom of OCD? ?!

Question: Are certain jealous tendancies a symptom of OCD!? !?
Let me start with my definition of jealousy:
A perceived threat based on some irrational view!. Causes for this behavior stemming from low self esteem, feelings of inferiority, etc!.!.!.

In every relationship I have ever had, I have obsessed over my girlfriends history!. I am 38, and this time have had at least a few relationships!. Each one suffered, and some ended because of this!.

While I have many obsessive tendancies, and have been considered to have OCD, no official dignosis has been made!. Rest assured, I check my doors a hundred times a night, and drive home at least once a day to check the stove, even though I don't even use it!. My fingers bleed and ache constantly from biting and picking at my skin!.

During my life, I have been cheated on in relationships, and my parents marriage did consist of infidelity!. Many times I have been accused of low self esteem!.

When a girlfriend even mentions an ex, I freeze!. Immediately, I begin to resent her, and consider leaving!. Given the choice, I would gladly take any physical pain I've ever known over this feeling!. I would not describe this as jealous!. Close, but it doesn't fit my own working definition!. After 38 years, this is starting to take its toll!. If it is treatable, both I and any future person I might date would greatly appreciate any information!. Recently, I have become aware of this Relationship OCD!. Sounds a bit contrived, but I'm interested!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was diagnosed with OCD at age 18!. While I don't have the jealous tendencies you describe, I can definitely sympathize with others, such as skin biting/picking!. I absolutely believe that your OCD is affecting your relationships; OCD sucks! Have you seen a therapist, or are you taking medication!? I take Zoloft, and it has helped me tremendously!. I would suggest making an appointment with a psychiatrist or even your family doctor!. Good luck, and know that you are not alone with OCD!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have OCD but I have never experienced that!. But it could be a form of obsession!. Why haven't you seen a doctor for your OCD and started taking medication!? It was the best thing I ever did!. You are going to wish you started a long time ago!. Medication helps you with family, friends work and most important relationships!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
