I have had 25 sessions!. It does cause temporary memory loss!. It can also cause dental damage when they hit you with the juice if they don't put the bite guard in right!. I chipped one of my teeth doing it!. That was it for side effects!.

They give you a drug that stops your body from convulsing and the seizure is limited to your brain!. They put a cuff on your leg that cuts off circulation to your foot so they can make sure that you actually are convulsing!. They give you brevital or versed to put you to sleep!. They have an anesthesiologist their to support your breathing while you are anesticised and he can intubate you if anything goes wrong!. They have another doctor there who administers the shock!. They put little electronic sensors on your head and chest so they can get readings of some sort!. It is really safe and all these people talking about how dangerous and barbaric don't know what they are talking about!.

I just went into the er after 20 years of medication and therapy failed and I told them I needed ECT or I was not going to keep on living this life!. They put me in the hospital and got the ball rolling and about 2 weeks later I got my first treatment!.

The problem with ECT is that a great many people don't respond to it!. I met a lot of people in the hospital who were getting it because they do everybody on the same days and many said it didn't help, but an equal number of people said it does work!. Unfortunately I was one of the people who did not benefit from it!. I hope you have good insurance too because it cost about 50,000 dollars for those 25 sessions!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The problem with ECT is that it will seem to work immediately but this only lasts for a few weeks!. Then, the symptoms of depression quickly come back and are often worse than they were prior to the treatment, especially if the person experiences cognitive decline!. It can do terrible things to your memory as other people have mentioned and it just isn't the best treatment, even as a last resort!. It's really only a very temporary fix and the end results are more disappointing than anything!. But, that's between you and your psychiatrist!. All you have to do is tell them that you're curious about it as being a potential therapy and ask them whether or not it could be even considered for your particular condition!. It's really up to them to evaluate you and see if you're able to withstand it and if it will even help you!.

The Mayo Clinic website also offers better information on the subject as well as a video link about one woman's experience that I think will be helpful!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

theres a reason this is banned in alot of states!. nothing good comes from shock therapy!.
i knew a woman who had it, her memory was so horrible she had trouble remember her own daughters name!. seriously dont do this crap its the worst thing you can do and it only helps a very small percentage of people!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yeah well you can literally fry your brain with it!. Try something else first, anything but that!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
