How likely is it that my male psychiatrist would molest me?!

Question: How likely is it that my male psychiatrist would molest me!?
i've read on the internet about male psychiatrists taking advantage of their female patients, trying to have a sexual relationship with them or molesting them!. i know that most of the ones who take advantage usually have a consenting relationship with the patient, but there are those who outright molests a patient, which i think i am particularly vulnerable to for several reasons!. i also know that it is usually older male psychiatrists who molest their younger female patients, most likely because of the power difference!. so it would be like the patient is like a child in a lot of ways, besides the patient usually has a mental illness or disorder which makes them more vulnerable!.

my own psychaitrist is older (40s-50s) and he has mentioned that he has daughters who i guess are around my age (early 20s)!. he mentioned them saying they play the piano because i like the piano!.
and he also has told me twice that "i am young"!. he replaced my first psychiatrist recently when he retired!.

im not saying that i think my psychaitrist has done anything to suggest he will molest me or that i think he's weird or that im uncomfortable around him!. he's very nice and seems to want to help me!. and i even prefer male doctors over female ones for whatever reason!.
however, does having daughters mean he wont molest me!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
1!. Are you doing therapy with your psychiatrist or do you also have a therapist!?
2!. If you have a therapist, talk to her about your worries/obsession/fears/concerns (whatever it is) and work on why you would thing this!.
3!. If he also does therapy with you as well as meds!. then you need to talk to him directly!. Maybe show him this letter you wrote to us!. It will not freak him out, shame him or embarrass him!. It is VERY common for women to fall in love with their doctors, especially their psychiatrists and their obstetrician/gynecologists so your doctor would be expecting something along these lines to come out!. It is VERY UNcommon for psychiatrists of any age to molest their clients!. It has happened and when it does it is a horrible violation so I can understand you being a bit apprehensive!. It is much better to talk things (EVERYTHING) through with your therapist/psychiatrist than to hold things in!. In fact that is what therapy is for!.!.!.!.working through all of our bothersome feelings and thoughts!.
4!. Pray for yourself and pray for him!. He needs it and so do we all!. If you pray for him every day for 2 weeks I guarantee that your thoughts and feelings will change!.I am praying for you both, right now!. Great insight and healing can come from honesty and prayer!Www@Answer-Health@Com

All medical and mental health professionals have a code of ethics to follow!. "To do no harm" is pretty much the common denominator in all of them!.

Don't stereotype your psychiatrist based on negative things you have read!. He may be a great person, full of the best intentions for his patients!.

If you have any concerns about his character, do some research!. I suggest doing an Internet search!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

all male psychiatrists are perverted weirdos who go through several years of education to become a doctor in medicine and psychology just to touch youWww@Answer-Health@Com

if this is getting in the way of your dr patient Communication ask to be refereed to a female doctorWww@Answer-Health@Com

Extremely unlikely!. I would say 1/100,000!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If he hasn't actually done anything threatening toward you, I'm not sure why you are concerned!. But I think the chance is very very minimal!.

If you are uncomfortable at all, I would change psych's!. If you can't talk to them for any reason (not even related to sexual issues, sometimes they are too old, or can't see your point of view) you should find a new doc, otherwise you are just wasting time and money!. He should be ok with this as it comes up a lot and he will understand that you may mesh better with another doctor!. You should be able to find a female, or younger psych if you think that you will be more comfortable!.

Remember the most important thing is your treatment, so don't worry that you are going to hurt their feelings if they aren't right for you!.

Most doctors are very ethical, but if he does try anything, tell someone and get some help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
