It's really all up to you!. If money is not a problem, I would recommend a psychologist, because they have the most training!. If your budget is a little tight, try a social worker or licensed professional counselor!.
There are a lot of different treatment types, and therapists choose the one they prefer!. If you disagree with their methods, it's not going to work very well!. Some therapists focus on cognitive methods, or changing your thoughts!. Others focus just on behavior!. Others will dig into your childhood to find reasons for your problems!. Some will give you a lot of feedback and direction, while others will try to guide you through solving your problems on your own!. There are religious counselors, and non-religious counselors too!. What will work for you really depends on what you are expecting from therapy, and from the therapist!.
All therapists will go over their views and methods, and ask you what you are expecting in the first session!. If it doesn't seem like a good match, or you're unsure you like the way he or she approaches things, find someone else!. Referrals!. I've noticed that with any doctors!. I will only go to one that someone I personally know has gone to!. Sorry it's not much help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
