Question: Sedative effect while taking Celexa (citalopram)!?

ssri's (like celexa) are not used for sedative effect although are used to treat anxiety and depression
there are many effects and side effects that people may or may not experience when taking citalopram, it all depends on your personal make up as to which you will/will not experience!.
but sedative effect is one of these possible side effects!.!.!.!. like with most ssri's some early side effects may stop after your body has gotten used to the drug!.!.!.!.!.
if sedation continues to cause distress, you should speak to your prescribing doctor who can change you over to a different anti-depressant!.!.!.!. ssri or otherwiseWww@Answer-Health@Com

It's an anti depressant, not an anxiety pill!. I've been on it for years for depression and it works pretty well for that, but it does nothing for anxiety issues!. My dr put me on Xanax for that!. Maybe your doc is afraid to prescribe anti anxiety meds because they can be addictive if abused!. In that case, i'd find another dr who is willing to treat you!. Anxiety is life altering if it's bad!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Yes you will have a sedative effect after taking it four like 4 weeks!. celexa works very well, things that would usually bother me had change to i could care less!. I give the medicine an a+Www@Answer-Health@Com
