How do you deal with the rage when you've been diagnosed with a chronic illn!

Question: How do you deal with the rage when you've been diagnosed with a chronic illness!?
I was diagnosed with PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) about a month ago!. I will have a very hard time having kids, I can't eat sugar, I have a 50% chance of having diabetes by age 40, a 45% chance of miscarriage with every pregnancy, a high chance of heart disease, and my periods are really abnormal!. I'm also likely to get morbidly obese unless I'm very careful and I'll always have more hair on my body and face than most women!. I know it's not cancer, I'm not dying!.!.!.none of that!. But as of yesterday, I'm dealing with horrible rage!. It's like nothing matters anymore and I'm so angry at everything and everybody!.!.!.especially my husband!. It's a little out of control and it's scaring me!. I can't go to a therapist because I just completed my only available round of therapy before I was diagnosed with this (go to a university and have their health insurance)!. Some advice would be amazing about how to deal with and calm down this rage!. I've never, ever been an angry person before!. And I know this disease is manageable!.!.!.I guess I've just always felt "in control" of my body before!. Thanks in advance!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your response is fairly standard!. In our society we have a need to be in control and many of us have been taught to get really pissed off if something comes along to interfer with the path we are on!. The anger will pass and then you will feel sad and then maybe even depressed and then more emotions will come along as well!. It is a coping mechanism!. Kubla Ross identified these states quite some time back and associated them to the loss of a loved one through death!. These stages have now been associated to any event that can have a negative impact on a person's life!.
Right now you don't see this as anything but a huge intrusion in your life and even though you admit that the disease is manageable you were really hoping for the easy life and that is so gone gone gone!. We all of us have to face challenges in our life at least once in our lifetimes!. This time this is your challenge!. Want to get over the rage start doing your research and focus on what you are going to do so that you can live your life "in control" despite the disease!. Can you imagine the people who lived all their lives with this disorder and had no clue what their problems were!. At least you have a heads up!. So you are at University with all the tools you need to find out what you can best do for yourself to deal with the reality in your life!. So go for it!!! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like you are painfully aware of the symptoms of this disease!.
Maybe you will not exhibit all the symptoms!. I think when you read about the symptoms, this might have overwhelmed you!. Maybe you can find a PCOS support group near you or maybe you can start one!. I hope you can live a symptom-free life and not even notice this awful disease!. I hope there is treatment you can receive!. Good Luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The best advice I could think to give you is try to find a place you can go to just scream your heart out!. It is very normal what you are going through!.

I found out some hard things about myself that I couldn't control and I went for a long walk through the woods and just damned and cursed everything I could !.!.!.!. it was amazingly theraputic!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Honestly, I used to be a hypochondriac and I always made myself feel sick and nervous!. I know that what you have is real and I am very sorry that you have to deal with it, but the point is the mind is such a powerful thing!. If you convince yourself that none of those things will happen, and live a healthy lifestyle I think you will be fine!. People who get diagnosed with illnesses and such will dread on it and convince themselves that the worst will happen and it will!. Keep a positive thought in mind and maybe even say "I am healthy and nothing bad will happen to me" out loud to yourself daily!. I know it sounds crazy but I'm into psychology and I really believe it works! Www@Answer-Health@Com
