I take Prozac for my OCD and Anxiety/Depression!. I just started on it about a month ago!. I have changed medications around alot because after about 2 years they stop working and I have to switch around!. I first started taking Prozac ten years ago, It was the best I ever felt, after 3 1/2 - 4 years I tried Paxil, that was good then a few years after that I tried Cymbalta, was Ok too!. I have been feelng very anxious for the last few months so my doctor started me on Prozac again!. You have to try different ones until you find the one for you!. This summer I tried Luvox,OMG!!!! !.!.!.!.!.never again,I thought I was going to go completely insane, it was terrible for me my anxieties got worse!. Good Luck and hope you find what is right for you!.

Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc!.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc!.

Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI - Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level!.

But there are natural ways to do it without medication!. There's this strange herb called "St John's Wort" - it is said to be more effective than Prozac!. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings!. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John's Wort works like prozac!. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc!.
The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced!.!.!. you have that "learned behavior" in your mind!. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior - Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this!. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction!.!.!. There are several other techniques to help cope them!
Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to!.!.!.!.

I think the Prozac is enough, God, don't get me started about klonopin! Please don't take it!.
If the Prozac turns out to not be so great( although many swear by it), I would highly reccomend Lexapro!. It's approved for BOTH depression and anxiety and I could not be happier on it!. I was addicited to Klonapin, previously, and it was hell getting off it!. Sheer hell, I kid you not!. Lexapro is wonderful!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

First off, I actually take both of those as well as Cymbalta for anger issues!. If it weren't for prozac, I would have ended it all a long time ago, I've been on it for about 5 years now and when I don't take it I notice huge changes!. Especially with how I look at the world!. When I'm on it I notice how green the trees are or how blue the sky is!. Klonopin helped with my anxiety, but actually Valium seemed to work better!. You do need to be careful with these types of meds though because they are VERY addictive!.
Secondly: It really depends on you!. I took Welbutrin for a while and absolutely flipped my lid, but it really helps my aunt!. It's all about your chemical imbalance!. As for the person who said "Don't take meds" don't listen to that!. If your doctor says to take them, take them!. I couldn't go with out prozac!.
But, you have to be honest with your Psychiatrist/Doctor, because if you're not, then nothing is going to help you!. You also need to make sure you're in active therapy, because you do need to try to work through what you're going through so maybe one day you'll be okay with out meds!. I hope I could help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
