Has anyone had side effects with EFFEXOR(Venlafaxine)?!

Question: Has anyone had side effects with EFFEXOR(Venlafaxine)!?
I was prescribed Effexor about 2 months ago, I took it once and has AWFUL nausea and dizziness just from one dose!. I never took it again and called my doctor who said to keep taking it and I didn't want to because I felt so terrible from just that one dose!. So 2 months down the road, still suffereing from depression and anxiety, I decide to take it again since my doctor really wants me to take it because I had a reaction to Lexapro and gained 45 pounds on Prozac and claims he isn't sure what else will work!. I took it today and within an hour I was serverely Nauseated, dizzy, hot and sweaty!. I swore I was going to vomit!. It was awful!. Is this really from the Effexor, is this normal!? I've read some bad things about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Wow, that sounds terrible, however you need to know that antidepressants NEED TIME to work!. In most cases the actual antidepressant effects only begin after about 2 - 4 weeks!.

therefore you will need to give it at least this long before you can make a decision as to whether the medication is right for you!.

Of course if the side effects are REALLY bad and you cant make it til this time, then I would advise ceasing the medication and trying something else!.

Unfortunately all antidepressants have side effects!. Im taking Lexapro and this has been a fantastic drug for me, but the side effect have been strange!.!.!.

When i first started the drug, I used to have really spaced out, psychedelic dreams with vivid colours and odd themes!. I still have these but now I also have very bad night sweats where I wake up freezing cold and absolutely DRENCHED! This has happened even though ive reduced the amount of drug that im taking!.

I was also scared that i would put on weight, but this hasnt happened at all!. In fact ive lost weight now because im not comfort eating like I do when i get depressed :-)

Most importantly, its vital that you stay in touch with one doctor who can monitor your progress!. If your current doctor isnt listening to you, find one that cares!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I take it and it does make me hot and sweaty!. It isn't as severe as you though, but once I accidentally took double my dose and I was throwing up, my head was pouring sweat like a rain cloud, I was dizzy and couldn't walk right!. I am not a doctor and I don't know what dosage you take but maybe you have to start small and go up slowly!. Talk to your doctor about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hey! I was on it for a couple of months for anxiety!. I took 37!.5 mg also!. The first week I started taking it I broke out in hives all over my arms and chest!. It was horrible!. I stayed on it for awhile and I just hated the way it made me feel!. So the doctor put me on a similar medicine for anxiety called Prestiq!. It is a new medicine!. It works pretty good, but it has raised my blood pressure significantly! All of these drugs have horrible side effects, unfortunately!. The human body was not made to tolerate chemicals like the ones in these medicines, so out bodies sometime reacts negatively! I suggest that you give it a couple of weeks to start working properly!. It usually takes like 2 weeks for your body to start adapting to the medicine! Best of luck!
