What mental disorder do I have?!

Question: What mental disorder do I have!?
I have been to my GP surgery about 6 times and I began CBT therapy about 8 months ago however I didn't stick to it as I was agoraphobic and I just lay in bed all day everyday and I don't go out anymore because of a range of factors, for example people treating me like crap, undermining me and making me feel worthless all the time calling me ugly and what not, and not just enemies but my friends and family would also make me feel this way!. I often get racing thoughts and I'm so lost and confused, I sometimes wonder whether I have a brain abnormality, but other times I get paranoid that I am bipolar or schizophrenic and also I sometimes just think it's all in my head and nothing is wrong with me I just need to get a grip!. I was given anti-depressants (citalopram) though I stopped taking them as they made me feel worse than I already was and less in touch with reality, and thats the problem I think I am a normal person but I just need to get in tune with reality, I am not going crazy and to some extent I might be a hypochondriac and that just makes us who I am, I just need to try and relax life was never meant to be easy, I always fight with myself in my head but this needs to stop, I need to take a step back and assess my surroundings and do everything I can to help me feel less like a paranoid schizophrenic and more like a normal human, and I think I just need to stop focusing on the bad and only think positive, if I think negative then I will be negative, if I think positive you will become more positive right!? I am still young 19, I think this a problem lots of people my age have and we get over this and it makes us stronger in the end as we learn to deal with this kind of thing, but why do I keep switching from positive to negative, how do I get a grip on life and try my hardest to keep that grip without slipping back into another crazy episode of depression, confusion, anxiety and panicWww@Answer-Health@Com

I really hear you pain here, I felt like I was crazy when I was younger too!. I bet you have a parent (or someone close) who at times acts a bit nutty themselves!? I have good news for you, there is help, please read on!.

1!. Understand your brain is not you!. If I tell you NOT to think of the color red for one minute, your brain will undeniable think of red!. You cannot control the first thought, this is your brain, it is a machine that runs automatically!. It will throw anything at you, you must learn to take the "what if" stuff with a grain of salt!. (Other times, your brain is super smart automatically!.)

2!. You can control the SECOND thought you have!. Thought one is your brain, thought two is YOU!. Example: Thought one automatic: Oh my God, what if I'm bipolar!?! This is where you either a) freak out and buy into that rash belief, or b) NOTICE the thought, notice it like you would a leaf falling from a tree, "Oh there's a thought"!. The Second thought is entirely UP TO YOU!. If you say to yourself, "Well I just noticed my brain had a thought about me being bipolar!. "Well, since I'm not a physician, I wont diagnose myself!. " Take the power away by noticing it, not buying into it!.

3!. You're not bipolar or schizo!. If you are bipolar you are having serious mood swing, lashing out, yelling, then back to being mellow!. If you were Schizo you would not for ONE SECOND be thinking something was wrong with you!. TRULY MENTALLY UNBALANBCED PEOPLE DO NOT THINK OR KNOW THEY ARE UNBALANCED!. A good sign that you are not crazy, is that you think you might be!

4!. You are most likely neurotic!. Your Brian is having a wonderful time giving you all kinds of thoughts totally based on its job, your brain's job is to SURVIVE!. It's main goal is to fix things, and keep you alive!. The thing is, it can't solve emotional issues!. Emotional issues are unsolvable!. You can't solve that you feel bad!. You can only turn your attention to what you do like, and focus on feeling good now!. How do you feel good!?

5!. You feel good by focusing on things that are good!. A thankful heart is a happy heart!. Focus on what is working in your life!. Aside from thinking you are crazy, what is going right!? If you have a bad thought, notice it, then say, Boy, I am so happy the weekend is almost here!. I'm going to go do!.!.!. whatever!.!.!. Keep at it, soon your head won't be throwing these unwanted thoguhts your way!. In short, ignore it (gently) and it will go away!.

6!. NO ONE, NO ONE makes you FEEL worthless!. Understand that NO ONE makes your feel anything!. If someone calls you a dumb-ash right to your face, you feel bad only if you believe it is true!. In reality, they are the person who is hurting, i mean, who calls someone a name to cope!? You are responsible for yourself, how you feel and how you react!. You need to learn to cope with misbehaving people!.

Did you become an anxious mess overnight!? NO!. So real progress will not happen overnight, but if you work on this, educate yourself and work on who you are, you can live a happy life, one that is balanced and fulfilled!.
