Depression VS sex drive?!
Question: Depression VS sex drive!?
I've been on and off different brands of anti-depressants for years now and I do find that they help to alleviate some of my depressive symptoms!. They stop me from stooping into the lowest of lows, help with my concentration, and help control my appetite!.
However, they also obliterate my sex drive to the point where it takes over an hour for me to have an orgasm (even with a vibrator)!. My sexuality is very important to me!. It's one of the few things I truly enjoy in life!. I can only handle not caring about sex for so long before I eventually have to give the AD's the flick!.
Does anyone else have this problem, or any helpful suggestions!?

I'm am a member of the opposite sex!. I too am taking Escitalopram!.
You are supposed to take these tablets for six months after you feel
well again!. I take mine with the knowledge that I will get back to my
happy self again!. The last 15 years for me have been tough; your not on your own; Listen to the Doc!. And a personal message from me!.!.

Some antidepressants might directly improve sex!. I believe mirtazapine may be beneficial to some people but possibly not others!. Another issue is whether that antidepressant suits you otherwise!. It is complex, requiring experiment especially as you are experienced!. The dose is relevant too - changes in the dose reverse the effect on sexual arousal!. In the end I think it is a matter of the tendency of blood flow to the relevant organ instead of elsewhere - as well as the emotional state which has similar effect!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Loose the drugs try to fine mr right not mr right now!. Depression is just the devils way of trying to get you to loose focus of God!. Man made drugs often come with offal side effects!. Get involved with a Holy Ghost filled church (hard to fine most are feel good!.) And stop using sex to feel good it will only cause a swing in your mood!.

Citalopram, for myself anyhow, was the absolute worst! AD as far as sexual side effects are concerned!.
I've been on and off anti depressants for nearly 10 years for an anxiety disorder and to one extent or another, they have all caused some sexual side effects!. Most notably, as you have mentioned, making it almost impossible to achieve orgasm!. For the most part, I found that once you're on the med, there is no real way to reverse these effects!.
Currently, I am on Effexor, and the sexual side effects aren't nearly as bad as I have experienced in the past with other ADs!. However, it can be hit or miss!. My sex drive is still very much strong, but I find the sexual side effects are far less problematic in situations where I am extremely turned on, as opposed to having sexual encounters just for the sake of having a sexual encounter!.
I know how awful it is to deal with such a rotten and common side effect, and I hope that perhaps something about my experience might help your situation!.

i took zoloft to get over depression and it worked and it double worked because it took away my drive away from marriage, and the root of escape from alot of my blaming my past for my life!.
Now i got my life in order and the drive is back but i dont persue it!. And await a true love to be friends and grow in love and marry and have wonderful meaningful intimacy with
if we are open about this, the worst depression of my life has come because of my sex drive!. When I used to live without regard to marriage and God, it made my heart grow cold to true love!. Life became a selfish please myself life!.
